Haven't seen any Dexter dedicated threads, but if there is just block/move this thread over. This is probably my favorite show on television. Got into it real late by recommendation from a buddy (Fellow Clutchfans member BigBird), and now I seriously can't wait for Season 7 to start up, especially after the season 6 ending. To all my fellow Dexter fans, just comment anything ya want. Favorite season? Favorite killer? Where you think the show is headed for Season 7? Favorite plot twist? Have at it.
Don't think it fell off, really enjoyed all seasons. Season 6 ended with such a banger, can't wait to see how they play this out and go on.
I seriously doubt it will ever match Season 4, which was the pinnacle of Dexter awesomeness. However, I'm still watching... Per your question: Best season, best villainI , best plot twist (season end) - all Season 4. And I hope he kills his sister.
Dexter is dead to me. If Breaking Bad falls off like Dexter did, God help me, I won't be able to take it.
Definitely fell off somewhat in seasons 5 and 6, but "dead to me" is a little extreme. It's still a very watchable show at it's least and Season 6's ending throws the show in an entirely fresh and new direction. That alone is worth watching.
Fairly new to CF, and I scrolled through the Hangout section of CF and couldn't find one. That's my bad
season 1 very good season 2 took a step back but still very good season 3 sucked season 4 AWESOME season 5 like season 2 took a step back but still very good season 6 in the Queue
Last 2 seasons were just unbelievable bad, and now i have no interest in watching the show even with last seasons cliff hanger. Spoiler They should have had deb find out about dexter during the lumen saga (season 5 i think), the whole dexter behind the curtain thing and her letting dexter and lumen go annoyed the hell out of me. Plus this last seasons brother sister love was unnecessary in my opinion and sorta disgusting Hopefully this season the show picks up again.
Season 1 was absolutely fantastic. 2 was a good follow-up, though not quite up to season 1. Season 3, it nosedived. Season was bad. Started spending way too much focus on supporting characters that were annoying/uninteresting. Season 4 picked back up though, and was absolutely fantastic. John Lithgow's performance was perfect. There was still some of the stuff with the supporting characters that sucked (I don't care about Laguerta's relationships, seriously) Season 5 was really bad. Started off really slow, then it had a string of 3-4 really awesome episodes near the end, but then it ruined it with a very lame climax and ending. Season 6 was much better, but still not quite up to 1, 2, or 4. It was much more watchable though, and got me back into watching the show on a weekly basis, so I give it that. It ended well too Season 7 looks really interesting and has a ton of potential (but it also has a ton of potential to go wrong). I'm actually excited for it. Based on the trailer, I didn't see them going this way just yet since they said 2 more seasons (which makes me kind of scared that this season is going to end with everything ending well and happy and all tied up neatly, like they tried to do with the end of season 5, which didn't work at all)
Season 4 had a good ending and it allowed people who might not have cared for Third Rock to remember how talented Lithgow is, but I've always been partial to season 2 and even 3; because I think the long-term character development was important for the show as a whole, Keith Carradine was amazing his first go 'round, I was totally hot for that NA sponsor and I kind of like it when Smits does good work. Also, the confession scenarios at the end of season 2 were the most acting range Jennifer Carpenter's shown the whole series.
the last two season's I thought they didn't focus enough upon Dexter and his origins, but towards the end of season 6 you started to see that again. I'm interested in the video game designer being the bad guy. Is he going to be a copycat ice truck killer or his own kind of guy? or just obsessed with Dexter. The upcoming season is going to be huge. Not sure how it'll last two more seasons after that (I believe that's how many showtime renewed it for, correct me if I'm wrong)
I think hands down the most interesting aspect of the show right now (besides what will happen with Deb now that she knows about Dexter) is the video game designer who is seemingly obsessed with Dexter. If they elaborate on that character and his intentions, it could make for a really great character and possible villain, but if they brush it aside I'll be disappointed.
I think you're the only person I've ever heard say that. While people seem to disagree a lot on which seasons were best (for me, 2 was the best), nearly everyone always seems to agree that 3 was the worst.
Favorite character? Probably Doakes and was pretty mad they had to kill him off. But I guess it pretty much had to happen with him snooping around Dexter so much. Favorite twist would probably have to be what happened to Rita, as I was both in shock and crying a little on the inside cause I freaking loved her. This whole brother-sister love thing they had going last season was a little weird, but hopefully this next season will pick up a little with that genius intern causing some mayhem.
Mostly agree, Doakes was one of my favorites along with Lundy. But Rita? I just thought she was an annoying nag. Was fairly shocked that she died, but not particularly sad.
I actually didn't like Doakes at all. His character was just ridiculous at times. The fact that in season 2, he had NOTHING better to do than Stalk Dexter? Seemed just ridiculous and annoying really. He was funny, and was significant to the plot, but his character was just unbelievable at times for me. I also thought Rita was a good character. She kept Dexter sane at times, and her and the kids gave Dexter something to hold on to and give him reason to believe he could maybe change. I did think however that towards the end of her, she got a little annoying. She was constantly mad at Dexter for little things that gave her character a really annoying sense about her.
