HO HO HO You are right! Given that we live in an era of government surpluses and financial strength, the appetite for showering the arts with grants and financial assistance is very strong. They don't need ticket sales revenues! The endless fountain of charity directed towards the arts will never cease. Given that they pay above market salaries to all theater employees and only perform in beautiful locations, suitable for royalty, ticket sales revenues are superfluous. Glad we cleared that up.
The funny thing about this is that in the last few years, I have taken several political quizzes, etc. They almost uniformly have me just about 50-50 between the Republicans and Democrats. On social issues, I trend toward being a Libertarian. In short, I have no political home. I do not vote straight ticket. Take the Senate race, for instance. I will not vote for Ted Cruz. My perception is that the guy wouldn't know the truth if it landed on his nose and started to break dance.
