Well I guess I'll defend my team. I went with high efficiency players. My starting backcourt each had a top-2 PER per position. At power forward, most will probably say Griffin is a much better player than Lee but they each had similar stats. Griffin went 21-11, while Lee went 20-10. At center, Pekovic was #6 PER among centers whereas Chandler was #13. And Pekovic is probably too strong in the low post and will cause problems for Chandler since he is about 50 pounds lighter. Lastly, at small forward, Deng has a HORRIBLE TS% and his PER is only #22 among 3s. In fact Deng is ranked below Ariza and Budinger. Dudley is a solid shooter and defender and is a very undervalued player considering I drafted him in like the 7th round. As for my bench, Faired ranked #4 among 4s in PER. Splitter was #8 among 5s. And each Dudley, Faried and Splitter are versatile and can play multiple positions. In summary, my starters and bench are more efficient. I went for a more stats-based approach so I hope this will sway the voters instead of just going on reputation.
I like your team a lot AXG but Donatas has really done a great job in creating in his team. Love the frontcourt with CP3.
I'll say this many times, DFB has a top 3 team, Cp3 is not only a magician and the best pg in the nba but he is also my favorite player in the nba. the frontcourt could not have been better fit an offensive stud with a defensive stud that are perfect for lob city, fit perfectly with Cp3, mix in great spot up shooters and defenders like Deng whom I love, this team scares the hell out of me. If I were going up against Donatas, I'd vote for him!
I just really love your team, a high powerd offense with very solid defense will always have a chance against an elite devensive team with average offense
ok, the voting is done, but here's my take quickly: i think my team is much better defensively, but AXG has built a very talented offensive team. I think i have better defense at every spot in the starting lineup. Even at PF: Blake is a below average defender, but at least he does well in certain situations (where strength is required, or PnR), David Lee is poor all around. In other spots, Wes Matthews is a defense-first shooter, and Tyson, Deng, CP3 are all-defense level defenders. But AXG has a defensive advantage off the bench. It's a great bench. Faried is a beast, Jamison can still run, cut and shoot, but he's not the athlete he used to be. I love Stuckey, very underrated because he's on a team without a good main playmaker; tough, strong, talented offensively, decent defensively, a top 10 SG probably and a great 6th man for this team. Delonte West is a tough defense first guy who plays efficiently on offense, but not as talented on offense as Stuckey. Splitter is not a great defender, but he's serviceable. Bad at defending centers one on one, but solid at other things. Efficient offensively though, good at PnR. Jason Smith is a better overall defender, high energy, can hit a shot, but not as efficient offensively (although in part because he played a bigger role for the Hornets than Splitter for the Spurs). Overall, I think AXG offense will be very hard to stop. He got some nice steals in the draft (like Pekovic) and has a lot of offensive talent. Manu-Lee PnR would be very good. But he'll have a hard time stopping my offense also, imo, he just doesn't not have much defense there, especially in transition and in the backcourt, while my team shoots, runs and passes very well. Dudley is a bit too slow and unathletic to defend Deng well, he's more of a tough high effort guy, not a shut down defender. Westbrook is probably the best perimeter defender there, but he's really average, maybe slightly above.
sure, but you have a TON of talent. it's an interesting matchup. anyway, i'll think about it if i get there, i see i'm playing LeBron in the next round....
Would be fun, we are brahmigos and give fact-based, observative reasonings. Hope the thing with VBG is over, never wanted it to turn out like this.
