I leaning toward the one used from the 70s until the 90s but I am also one of the very few people who liked the one used directly after that, especially the old court. I'm asking the members of ClutchFans which logo of those used over the years is their favorite to gauge what the sentiment is for those on the board. Thinking about getting tattoos of my to favorite teams, Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Rockets. I won't be using it to pick which design I will get just interested to see how others feel about the logos. I did a search and it appears this hasn't been asked for several years but if I missed it somehow, lock it up! San Diego Early Houston Years 70s - 90s 90s - 2000s Current
None is right. I guess if I had to rank them: 1. Championship 2. Dripping paint 3. San Diego . . . . . . . . . . . . . T-99139092409. Dildo Rocket Torpedo T-99139092409. Cartoon guy
everybody is going to pick the logo from the championship era, just because that logo are linked to golden era of the rockets. If we won a title with the current logo, and then changed it, and stop being contenders, people would want the current logo.
1. 70s-90s 2. San Diego 3. 90s-2000s 4. current 5. early Houston We really need a new logo and jersey. The current ones are too plain.
Early Rocket years.. It's the only one that instills that sense of ferocity and drive that reflects our team at the present. Also it clearly shows that we are in the NBA, something the other logos fail to address
'70s to the '90s: because by then every other mid-market team was trying to force black and/or pinstripes into their unis and change their identity; us keeping the logo was symbolic of being an understated city with a franchise that won with (relative) front office and coaching stability, long-term drafting and prudent, low-key veteran signings.
None actually but to me the current one is not that bad as I've noticed even reporters seem to hate it with the dripping bits. To me that's actually why I like it, sort of like blood drips, makes it a little dark. Like some have said, the championship one is always going to be seen as the best because of the sentiment involved. To me though it doesn't make any sense, is it supposed to look like something with the red circle broken up? I never understood the whole changing of logos though, because it is supposed to be endless. Take in football for example, my favourite club Ajax has had one logo since the beginning (founded in 1900!) though it was tweaked a little during the 90s. It actually means something as it has the greek god / figure Ajax with the letters and emblem in a circle. Simple but meaningful, timeless and everybody can relate to it. Changing the logo back is not an option and tweaking it will only make people mad because it never be as good as the original one so just keep it the same or change it completely. New colours, no more grey, mustard or ketchup and something that everybody can relate to Houston and the term Rocket(s).
I'm with you on this, football (soccer) clubs have logos which have become timeless.. I hope there's a quality logo like that for us in the near future where we won't need to changeit for a long time
I like the Jetpack guy. Would look terrible on unis, but I like it. Of course I tend to like retro a lot.
I'll go with the Championship era all day, I still think that because we changed it in '96 after 2 straight championships, we got swept in the playoffs and never made it back to the finals. If we go back, old unis and all (not the crappy "throwback" ones we have now), we'll pick up where we left off in '95.
