Stop being a bully, you can't tell ppl who or what they root for , he does not, NOT, live in Houston, there's nothing the word Rockets he can connect to, I mean seriously, your head not thinking straight. He(and alot of so called jul, aug posters) just got here, the season hasn't started, the word Rockets represents Houston pro basketball, if Lin didn't come here, how can an Asian not living in Houston root for The Rockets?

Your altering the facts in your own favor.

The whole SAS being a racist thing started long before Lin don't even go there. People have been calling that guy racist for years.

LOL... are you kidding? So we are better b/c we became a diverse society through slave labor (Blacks) and, later after we finally figured out that slavery was bad, cheap labor (Asians and Latinos). Like you said, East Asians are extremely heterogeneous which means they have no experience w/ race relations. What's our excuse?

As a white middle-class American you don't have to worry about a lot of things that non-whites have to deal with. As a kid it's teasing and stupid name calling. That doesn't seem like a lot now, but to a kid it forces them to adapt and many times "hide" their cultural identity. No one should have to deal with that. Hell, I went to Berkeley, one of the most diverse schools in the country and I was still called chink and other names. And just for your info, Asians actually have a TOUGHER time getting into schools b/c of race.

Even after schooling the world is still isn't equal. Why do you think there are anti-discrimination laws for employment? Why are there diversity scholarships and diversity policies at companies? They exist to correct years of racial imbalance and injustice.

Jeremy Lin suffered through taunts and who knows what else solely b/c of the color of his skin. He may or may not have "suffered," but please do not assume you know anything about what he went through. You know nothing about what it means to be a minority.

I think you're being too defensive and viewing things with a biased filter... blacks can be racist especially because they consume the same racist media as everyone else

It's obvious you're naive about racism. Btw, Asian countries, though homogeneous, are very accepting of whites and blacks - not so much of "lesser Asians". They regularly consume movies starring white and black protagonists. Meanwhile, America rarely accepts anything Asian-related unless it deals with 1) making fun of Asians 2) Asian women 3) food

Unless the op knows Jeremy Lin personally and has come to this assumption by personally observing him then this thread is baseless and the op is very insecure and its outrageous that this thread has gone on to 5 pages

I thought Lin's closest friends on the Knicks were Landry Fields and Jared Jeffries who most people would say are black even if they are half black. In any case what does it matter if his closest friends were white?

Don't assume I wasn't a minority in my schools either. My suburban area is predominately hispanic and black, and by the time I graduated it was a real chore to find anyone else who looked like me.

I got called "whiteboy" pretty much everywhere, even in our football program. I spoke Spanish pretty damn well and could talk to girls, and some of the guys really didn't like that.

Everyone has their own issues, their own struggles, and maybe even dealings with race. There's no need to differentiate ourselves and try to claim to be the biggest victims of racism, or squabble over who's was more significant or pertinent. We're all one human race.

I don't disagree with anything you've said, but LOFs/anyone else making all these racially based threads are a ****ing cancer to this board.

I think a lot of people look at Lin and see, first and primarily, a Taiwanese man who tore up the NBA spotlight during his tenure in NY. A logically fallacy for the media.

I see a Harvard grad who managed to fight through being cut multiple times, who can penetrate, play-create, make amazing off balance moves, and managed to turn it on---almost instantaneously--- and play at a super-star level. Not to mention being an outstanding young man. I'm proud that we got our hands on him.

I lived in Seoul for a semester, I do have some idea about it. Also, the whole WORLD consumes American movies unless the government says they can't. We have Hollywood and make the biggest, most expensive movies with the biggest stars in the world.

We also consume Japanese and Korean cars at a very, very high rate. Electronics, animation, pens/pencils, steel, etc. America just happens to be the most dominant force in the world of global culture for whatever reason.

I'm sure we'd have more Asian protagonists in movies if there were as many asian-american actors as there were of everyone else. Of all the students/people I've met, I've only encountered one girl who was Filipino who was studying to become an actress. Most of my asian friend's parents would most likely not be supportive of that kind of career choice.

There aren't that many because you don't know about them. They're all struggling to find work because Hollywood, mostly run by white men, refuses to cast them in a main role. It could be because white men are more marketable, but then it's a question about whether Hollywood men are racist, or the white population in America is (on average) racist.

btw, don't worry, you'll get your p***y even if other men don't like it. White men are universally accepted among women of all races because they've all been brainwashed by the media.
