Would you get on the practice or say screw it and go the coaching route. The Tom Brady scenario is one in a billion. I guess practice squad money isn't terrible, but is 90 grand worth it pushing back your career? Coaches make good money after a while and you can do it a lot longer than playing in the nfl especially if your physical's preclude you from making it in the nfl?
his nfl career is hardly over. who is a 23 year old going to coach in the NFL? no one will respect him.
The smart answer whether he wants to coach or not is to stick around the league in any capacity for as long as he can; be aponge while he is around the best minds in the game, build relationships with other players and pursue coaching later if that's what he wants to do. Look at Trindon Holliday, he IRed first then put on the practice squad and now he is getting his shot. Gary is a heck of a QB coach why not take advantage of that, even if there is little chance he ever makes it off the PS, there is still a chance and who knows stranger things have happened and even if it doesn't, it only helps with his knowledge of the game. Why ditch this oppurtunity for some some second rate coaching gig somewhere, doesn't make sense.
Year or two in the NFL (practice squad or 53 man roster) would look pretty good on a coaching resume. I think being on an NFL team at this point is a no-brainer.
Why give up so early? Case doesn't seem like the type that gives up that easily. Like a good kid, I expect Case to learn a lot from the Qb guru. I can see him as a good back up someday. besides, there isn't easier money than being a back up nfl qb( maybe sex tape reality star, king pin or Backup shooting guard.) Also this thread was made by Air Langhi, so It's a jinx thread. In this case, a reverse jinx. I'm expecting Case to win an MVP by 2017 now.
LOL come on. If he makes PS this year but ends up as a 3rd or backup QB next year here or somewhere else he is making 400k. That's more than a low level coach is going to get. If he were to go coach right now (except college) he'd be an offensive quality control coach or something like that. Play a few years in the NFL as a backup and set yourself up for life and then go coach.
In the words of Steve Francis... you couldn't hold his jock strap.... But just to let you know the Texans picked the right QB as the number 3...Case has some work to do, but Case will get a shot somewhere...ie. Arizona, Minnesota...there are places for the kid Secretly, i really do think that the coaching staff didnt want to have him sling it out yesterday in hopes he would clear waivers and he would be able to be part of the practice squad. Keenum will have a future(albeit a back up somewhere). And all it takes is an injury to have him step up in the limelight.
haha wtf u smoking? case keenum couldn't beat a SOUTHERN MISS defense. what makes u think he could be a serviceable QB in the NFL? poor guy should call it quits and be a car salesman..
How da fuq is that even relevant. Nobody asked how good Case was, he asked what would you do if you were him. Take your trolling elsewhere.
Are we underestimating how hard it is to become and stay a football head coach at any level (HS, College, obviously pros)? Hasn't it gotten to the point where one needs to start working and learning at the same as an athlete would start playing pro ball (18 - 21)?
I think thats almost unsportsmanlike to suggest. In sports you're taught to fight until the whistle or the last horn. Same thing with athletic career advancement. Its the principle of competition. Why even play football, and just go for an MBA and decent paying career there. Even Andrew Luck has a 1 in a billion chance of equaling Tom Brady. I know Tom Brady is being used as reference. But there's several QBs drafted in 6th round to undrafted who've started games in the NFL with varying levels of success
He went undrafted. Why would you think some team is going to give him a shot. Has something changed since draft day?
