I am watching preseason game 1 and sorry UH fans, I start to think how much better he looks over Case. Then he looks alright again, then in the final game . . . I am starting to wonder if maybe, maybe .. He is ahead of TJ ?! In all fairness to TJ he had some legit excuses, but Beck showed some zip on the ball. Thoughts? Um, glad Schaub is healthy. Cant stand his foot speed but he showed a lot to impress as the starter
Thought he looked ok last night.(What can you judge in a 4th preseason game?) I think he locked up the 3rd QB spot if they carry 3 QBs, with Case headed to the PS if he clears waivers.
He's 31 years old and already has 2 years experience in a quasi-Kubiak system. He damn well should be better than Case.
You're comparing a QB with real NFL experience with 3or4 teams to a QB that just getting his feet wet. Too early to make a judgement call either way. Rex Grossman can put zip on the ball too.
TJ played better last year as a rookie than Beck has in any stretch of his career. TJ is our #2. Beck played well last night, but the Posey play with the 70 yard run after the catch inflated his stats a little bit.
Andre Ware said last night that Beck could push Yates for the number 2 spot on this team. He said Beck has never been able to be on a team that has legitimate weapons. If anything, the competition will drive both of them to work harder and be more prepared if Shaub gets hurt or we are winning by a lot.
Beck was good in college too. The guy can play and still has upside. Personally, I don't like Keenum. Never did. Don't think he has NFL tools. But if Kubiak thinks he has genuine upside you might as well keep him over Beck because if we get down to QB#3 we're already screwed as is.

Expected. I hope Case learns a lot this year and can earn a roster spot somewhere, if not here, next season.
Better to have Beck in the system as a #3 all year than trying to have guys like Delhomme and Garcia learn it on the fly.
Absolutely. He may not be better than Yates, but he's better than Yates was at this time last year. It's funny, we are probably the only fanbase in the league so concerned about our 3rd string QB. But after last year, can anyone blame us?
I think Beck was being underrated by fans all preseason. He'd easily get snatched up by another team if we released him. You don't think the Broncos would love to have him over Caleb Hannie as their backup? I also don't fully trust TJ if we need him again. In a dummied-down offense, he was pretty good against the Bengals twice. Other than that, it wasn't too pretty. I love his mobility and his arm but his decision-making is a work in progress.
