The NBA Street games were pretty sweet. I still have Homecourt, actually. It does a pretty good job of being way simpler than a sim, but also being much more complex and involved than NBA Jam, so it can keep you interested for awhile.
Sometimes I think EA's glitches are the best part of their company. <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ssrg6oo0euo?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ssrg6oo0euo?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yfjca27x6wk?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Yfjca27x6wk?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ssbh-ETkscE?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ssbh-ETkscE?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WT-pNYPYE4g?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WT-pNYPYE4g?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
"It’s been almost 3 years since we’ve released an NBA title,” the EA rep said. The tactic is to get feedback from gamers. However, it’s a bit risky to not run it as the AAA title as thedecision has been made to NOT put the game on disc. Live will be looking at a price point around $19.99,” equaling out to 1600 Microsoft Points or $20 PlayStation Network card.
Yeah, that kind of tells me the game still isn't ready for primetime. It's nice and all to get a 20 dollar download, and it could still be fun. But when even EA passes on a chance for a $60 title/new release on disc you know the confidence level is real low.
confidence is low, if they did release the $60 game...NO ONE would buy it. i think this is good, they should keep trying to improve the game every year...im just shocked on how they missed the ball on the new generation systems, NBA Live went to complete **** so fast !?
For $20 sure why not i guess...i havent played live since '03 when kidd was on the cover. i converted to 2k ever since
Yup, I haven't played since Wade was on the cover, I won't buy it this year unless it gets some really good reviews from people I know that bought it.
2K actually did this strategy when they were up and coming with both NFL and NBA games. EA was who they were trying to catch. It worked well for 2K. They were heralded for great gameplay with their games compared to EA. All they needed was for people to buy and try their games. Once the price point was set to half the norm, people bought it, and their games spoke for themselves, specifically the NFL 2Kx series and NBA 2Kx series. EA killed the momentum they gained by getting the NFL to agree to exclusive rights. Smart move on EA's part. Madden is a huge product for them. However, EA did not have the same luck in the NBA department. I guess they thought their Live series would beat out the 2K series. That didn't happen. The low price strategy only works if you believe that your product works but no one is trying it. We'll see if EA truly believes in their NBA product, or if they are just picking up scraps and charging for it.
I hope they bring back the MVP baseball series. 05 was the best baseball game ever. Playing at the old pologrounds was so much fun. The new EA Sports office in Austin will have some franchise. No word on which one yet.
EA is a multi-million dollar company, biggest game dev in the world and they can't even release a NBA video game?
Not sure what happened there but they really lost touch with some of their franchises. 2K took basketball from them, tried to take football but they negotiated exclusive rights. Once they lose that license who knows what happens with EA. Maybe that's why they want to sell the company.
