Friday the 13th parts 1-9 were all good/10 sucked, Nightmare On Elm Street parts 5,7 sucked.. Michael Meyers is overrated and how many Saw movies have I seen??
Friday the 13th still the best horror franchise to date... Hellraiser/ puppet master/child's play I can see some fans out there with this vote...

Of those choices, I prefer A Nightmare on Elm Street.
The first one I loved growing up...then the second was the "Gay" one...fans know what I mean. Then the third one with Patricia Arquette brought it back to pretty good form. You can argue shortly after that it started to get really goofy.

Friday the 13th I never got into.
Halloween I thought was just ok.
    Saw films I can't stand.

In retrospect, I find most 80s horror franchises cheesy and stupid. But as a kid growing up, I always preferred A Nightmare on Elm Street.

I did find the documentaries on Nightmare and Friday the 13th that came out a few years ago very entertaining.

I really enjoyed the first few Saw films but then they just tried to churn one out every year and it just sucked. I might have seen the 3rd one twice but only saw the ones afterwards one time each which made it difficult to remember details of the overall series story arc whenever a new one came out. After Jigsaw died, I couldn't remember what had happened in the previous installment whenever I saw the next one.

    Nightmare on Elm Street easy.

Hellraiser 1 is awesome, but everything after the first was ****ing stupid.

I don't really consider them horror because none of them are scary. However if I had to choose, I'd go with Saw for the sheer violence.

i like both friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street, but if i had to choose i would watch nightmare on elm street... like most of these the first ones were great then got worse each time... jason vs freddy was a cool twist though.

A Nightmare on Elm Street part 1 and 3 are excellent horror films.

Halloween really set the table for the 80's slashers so you have give it plenty of respect, part 2 wasn't that bad either.

Why is The Exorcist not here?

The first one would blow all of the ones you mentioned out of the water...

Friday the 13th has more good sequels, but Nightmare on Elm St is the better horror movie.

NOES II & VI were awful. I liked the idea behind VII.

I'll go Nightmare on Elm St just for the terrifying idea of going to sleep.

Saw would have been the winner if they hadn't kept turning out terrible sequels. The 1st one was truly special, and I liked the 2nd one, but it continued downhill after that.

Saw is like Final Destination. Each sequel is worse than the previous one, but I still go out and see them for the deaths and gore.

As a stand alone film, I agree... I don't think the Exorcist is a franchise, how many sequels were made???
