I understand that your ideology is continually one of exclusion of the many in favor of the few. I understand that you believe government can't play a role in bettering the lives of those who aren't fortunate enough to be born into a specific wealth bracket. I understand that patriotism only means something to your kind when it comes to your guns,, your religion, your greed, and your paranoia about how the world hates your freedoms. I understand that your kind believes everyone is just a work ethic away from being a millionaire and if you're poor then it's because you don't work hard enough. I understand that you b**** and moan about government as your kind works overtime to exploit and strip down everything possible to profit from that same government. I understand why there's no chance in hell the current iteration of conservatism will ever have my support. What'd you ask about? Vouchers? Because all I heard was the same nonsense I hear from you folks. Whether it comes to Medicare, social security, education, it's that choice is the solution. Except for abortion of course, choice is not the answer there because everyone is far more capable in making good decisions in finances, the stock market, their 401k as opposed to what to do with their bodies. We know the drill, government sucks, jobs over clean air and water, vouchers over better education for all, tax cuts for millionaires over infrastructure and services for all, militarism and xenophobia over diplomacy, angry white men over inclusion, health care for the wealthy over care for all, and screw you immigrants this is America damnit.
Do you understand how many charter schools have turned out to be scams or at best no improvement? Do you understand how many business folks who try to run schools don't know crap about doing so? Do you understand what this issue is about for folks above your pay grade who feed you your Fox News? This is not primarily about education for poor kids or their families who they could care squat about. Ii is being pissed off at school teachers because they are often Democrats and even worse frequently unionized and don't support additional tax breaks for the one per cent.
Mayor Mia Love is pretty hot. I know my parents would disapprove if I brought her home though. She's a... republican!
Ask that same parent how involved they are in their kids education. Do they know their child's teacher? Do they conference/speak with them regularly? Do they know what grades their child is receiving, what they are studying and are they helping to make sure homework is done in a timely manner? Do they know the principal of the school? Are they involved in the PTO? Do they make sure their child is fed well and gets a good breakfast with plenty of sleep? Does that same parent make sure their kids are getting enough exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle? Practically all I ever hear from the conservative side is vouchers, vouchers, vouchers. Well if every kid had a choice of what school to go to, and every kid went to a top-performing school, then wouldn't you have insanely overcrowded schools? Students should have a choice, but efforts should be made to better invest in all schools, so that those same students don't necessarily have to leave their zoned school to get a good education.
No. Learn supply and demand. Spoiler I am choosing to give every parent choices for the kids. You choose the status quo which is choices for the rich only. Sure it can. Just makes that person a dependent on some possibly unwilling participant. Liberals would take all these things from Americans. gun bans, forcing religious groups to cover abortions in medical plans, higher taxes, and obviously some freedoms too. Intelligence matters too. This is opposed to those who think success is luck or explotation (Obama) I pay taxes (more than most). I'd like the biggest bang for my buck. Not intelligent enough. founding fathers believed 'each his own' as well. It's an American principal. What choice does the baby have in an abortion? Lots of Libertarians/Conservatives support the existence of the EPA. Nobody has any complaints about every other voucher program (food stamps). Especially not the recipients. need permanent jobs right now, not bridges. America would agree Republicans support easier legal immigration. Pretty telling that you confuse 'immigrant' and 'illegal immigrant'. You couldn't know less about political parties.
exactly basso's quote is great. but at the same time in her speech she implies that with obama's failing internationally, that she wants the US to be even more involved in the world. but where is the money coming from? increase military, improve education, cut taxes at the same time??? it just doesnt ad up to me
Just a load of crap, spewing from the mouth of a professional politician. They all say the same **** and no one ever follows through. Politicians are the death of our country.
has anyone ever listened to Obama talk about black parents taking more interest in their kids educations. i know the thread starter hasn't.
They don't need choice. What they need is a public education system that allows their children to get the same opportunity from the school down the street, as they would at schools that are currently privatized. See Egalitarianism. All the way through K-12. Unwilling or not, we are dependent on the global economy. Government regulation does not make us more dependent than we currently are. If anything is could help reduce the level of dependence by stimulating local economy as opposed to corporate globalization. We depend on distant suppliers to provide us with all the goods we depend on daily. What you feel you deserve to get back for your taxes is irrelevant. They aren't personal investments for your wealth. They are for the country to provide public services like the education. I have to leave, but I will come back later to continue attacking the ego you are so insistent upon feeding. It's obvious you are confusing confidence with intelligence.
Arguing with tallanvor is pointless. He already knows the truth about everything, so there's no need for him to reconsider his perspective (until the party platform changes).
It's much easier to just to give every parent the ability to send their kids to some of those great schools that a privatized. Good luck trying to duplicate the success of a private school at a public school. Also, if you asked these parents if they want choices in where they send their kids to school, they will say 'yes'. So they disagree with your assertion they don't need choice. Everyone wants choices especially when it comes to their kids. I'm not. My skill sets aren't. Not to me.
JEB last night: -- We must stop pre-judging children based on their race, ethnicity or household income. We must stop excusing failure in our schools and start rewarding improvement and success. We must have high academic standards that are benchmarked to the best in the world. All kids can learn. Governor Romney believes it, and the data proves it. While he was governor, Massachusetts raised standards and today their students lead the nation in academic performance. Here in Florida in 1999, we were at the bottom of the nation in education. For the last decade, this state has been on a path of reform. Under the leadership of Governor Rick Scott and local leaders, our focus every day is whether students are learning. That's it. Today, more students are reading on grade level, passing rigorous college prep courses and graduating from high school. And perhaps most exciting, those traditionally left behind are showing the greatest gains. Among African-American students, Florida is ranked fourth in the nation for academic improvement. Among low-income students, we're ranked third for our gains. Among students with disabilities, we're ranked first. And among Latino students, the gains were so big, they required a new metric. Right now, Florida's fourth grade Hispanic students read as well or better than the average of all students in 21 states and the District of Columbia. These kids were once written off. But today thanks to teachers like Sean Duffy we're changing that. We need more great teachers like you. Teachers who don't give up on a kid, who recognize that every child can learn, and don't waste a precious year of a student's life. If you're a great teacher and your students are mastering their subjects, no matter your age or years of experience, you should have a job. Education is hard work, but if you follow some core principles, and you challenge the status quo, you get great results. So here's another thing we can do: Let's give every parent in America a choice about where their child attends school. Everywhere in our lives, we get the chance to choose. Go down any supermarket aisle - you'll find an incredible selection of milk. You can get whole milk, 2% milk, low-fat milk or skim milk. Organic milk, and milk with extra Vitamin D. There's flavored milk— chocolate, strawberry or vanilla - and it doesn't even taste like milk. They even make milk for people who can't drink milk. Shouldn't parents have that kind of choice in schools? Governor Romney gets it. He believes parents - regardless of zip code or income - should be able to send their child to the school that fits them best. That has set him against some entrenched interests. There are many people who say they support strong schools but draw the line at school choice. "Sorry, kid. Giving you equal opportunity would be too risky. And it will upset powerful political forces that we need to win elections." I have a simple message for these masters of delay and deferral: Choose. You can either help the politically powerful unions. Or you can help the kids. Now, I know it's hard to take on the unions. They fund campaigns. They're well-organized. Election day? They'll show up. Meanwhile, the kids aren't old enough to vote. But you and I know who deserves a choice. Governor Romney knows it, too. Read more: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/80486.html#ixzz2588fxWh6
Agreed..This would be awesome. However The people on the Left will never let this happen. Private Schools are so successful for several reasons..including but not limited to: At Will Work for Teachers - Many can actually be fired (what a concept) Some REQUIRE parental involvement in the schools - I know several people that HAVE to take volunteering shifts. They have they ability to punish and give earned grades.
"I'll suck your **** if you vote for me" *every politician that ever stepped on a stage at a convention*
