The Ronaldo ball control and self heel kick pass was sick but a deflection off Valdes was meh.

Messi's perfection of a free kick was just as impressive especially against the best keeper in the world.

What do you guys think about Javi Martinez? Will he be a good fit at Bayern? I must admit I have not seen much of him.

Martinez is still young so I guess Bayern is hoping for upside. He didn't play much at all on the national team but he's pretty solid. I expect him to a nice prospect Bayern can mold nicely. He's solid as a defender.

City in the hardest group in the CL draw. I think its going to be a toss up between them and Dortmund for second.

United have one trip to hell but other than that, I am liking this group barring we don't underestimate anybody.

Chelsea v Juventus will be an interesting one to watch.

Arsenal pretty much have the same group as last year I think?

What are ya'll opinions on the draw?

Martinez is good but not for the price Bayern paid for.

40mil but he agreed on taking 2mil salary less per year. This effectively costs them 30mil.

He's worth around ~25mil but Bayern finally realized they need to act to win the league title again. Bayern is a healthy club and did this transfer without credits or sponsors, all from their bank account.

This was a "win now by all means" move and necessary in my eyes. Plus, if he turns out a star in the next years, this was a good deal.

I don't like Adriano either, I knew from the beginning there was going to be trouble on the right side when I saw him there. Hopefully that served as a lesson for those that want Alves gone. About Tello, I don't understand Tito's obsession with him, he should have brought in Villa in instead of him. Even Cesc would have been a better option. Tello is good but el clasico isn't the time for experiments. I did like the few minutes Song had, he looked like a rock.

Iniesta chosen as best European player, I like it. I still think Messi wins Ballon d'Or.

Do you think Martinez will be put into the starting line up right away? Think they paid for his potential and ceiling as oppose to what he is right now so its going to be a while before we can see if he truly is a star or not.

Iniesta is just amazing. They all help each other as a unit because they are relentless (Xavi, Iniesta, Messi). The best combination of midfielders we'll see in our lifetime.

He will definitely start for us and form a duo with Schweinsteiger. The point of this signing was that they felt a glaring weakness at the defensive midfield spot for the starting unit, Gustavo wasn't reliable in many games and Kroos is just not good enough to play that spot for a CL title contender.

Kroos will now likely be moved to the 10 spot and the final line-up should be:

Neuer - Alaba, Badstuber, Boateng/Dante, Lahm - Schweini, Martinez - Ribery, Kroos, Robben - Gomez/Mandzukic

Shaqiri will get meaningful time as a substitution and has the potential to be a starter over Kroos later this season(given good performances).

As a City fan I was pissed to see how tough their group is. All 4 teams in Group D finished 1st in their respective league. I wouldn't rule out and 2 of the 4 teams in the group moving on. Back to back tough draws for City. Last year they had Munich and Napoli and this year Madrid, Ajax and Dortmund.
