I'll give you that are mostly douchebag, overly-atheist kids on subreddits like r/politics, r/atheism or r/funny. But there are some pretty good places on Reddit if you know where to look.

Presidency has become a popularity contest because most people are not educated on all of the issues. I will vote Obama but even i feel this reddit AMA was a reach. This coming from a guy who regularly visits reddit.
In my head i see Fox news going to town on this...spinning it as the end of the world. To me it seems kind of demeaning for the president to chat and reply to questions on a website that has such subreddits as /spacedicks, /gonewild or /mylittlepony. But maybe im being a little to old fashioned (btw im 24).

Obviously Obama used the hurricane machine to remind everyone of the devastation of Katrina and how much they hate Republicans. Luckily, he didn't feel the need to hit them with a category 5 like Bush who creates hurricanes because of his hatred for black people, and Florida.
