EDIT: Please take this to the D&D, sir.

    In general,

Republicans are more "conservative", meaning that they believe government should not regulate or rule personal lives. They are usually older and resist change.

Democrats are generally more "liberal", wanting to try new things, tolerating and experimenting. They are usually the younger crowd.

Please someone add to what I said, if I don't have that somewhat correct.

WTF?!?!?!? I actually answered this question without a joke? 'DAFOC?
FIXED IT FOR YOU, dear sir.

Just give up now and relinquish your right to vote if you don't know the difference between a modern day Republican and a modern day Democrat.
JK. But seriously please don't vote if you have no idea who or what you're voting for.

    D vs. R
    http://www.diffen.com/difference/Democrat_vs_Republican
There now you probably know more then most Americans.

If you really want to learn more about politics, start watching some news (preferably not FOX :p)...but never believe everything these stations tell you because they fling bull**** like no other.

    Winner.

It's doubtful that either political party spends much time considering what is best for America or Americans.

I've heard it said that conservatives believe people are basically evil, and therefore want to guard against a potentially evil government. On the flip side liberals believe people are basically good and that the government will help us.

In other words, conservatives should believe in smaller government and fewer government powers, while liberals would encourage a larger government and more helpful programs.

In recent practice, Bill Clinton cut spending and some regulations, while George Bush increased the size of government, utilized more executive powers, and introduced the damned Patriot Act. Obama simply followed in his well-worn footprints.

So I don't believe either party is really looking out for us, and just voting for one party in particular may not get you what you expect.
