What do you do with a guy like him? He's closing in on 30 HR as a 21 year old in Hi-A. Do you promote him to AA and hope he figures out the whole contact thing?

I'd have him repeat A+, especially if we manage to switch affiliates and avoid Lancaster and High Desert.

Chances of Singleton being on Astros opening day roster next season?

Likely. But I think the reluctance to start his service clock could be a factor. I'd give it a 60% chance.

I'd bet on the Pence Plan. Let him start the season at AAA, regardless of the spring he has, and bring him up in May assuming he's still hitting.

I'm excited about seeing Singleton play every day in orange/blue! :)

I think it's unlikely, but, if all goes well, I think there is a good chance he'll be up at some point during the year. He'll just be 21, so I don't think they'll be in any rush to start his clock. I would guess you'll see Wallace, altuve, lowrie, and Dominguez across the infield to start the year. Should be a make or break year for Wallace and maybe even dominguez.

    Your 2013 lineup is:

    Altuve, 2B
    Paredes, CF
    Lowrie, SS
    Wallace, 1B
    Martinez, LF
    Martinez, RF
    Castro, C
    Dominguez, 3B
    Norris, P

DH may open a spot for him (with Wallace being the DH), but I doubt it, and for reason only:

He doesn't have to be placed on the 40-man roster, while we have several guys becoming Rule V eligible if not put on the 40-man roster: Erik Castro, Cisnero, Cosart, Grossman, Krauss, Lo, Oberholtzer, Seaton, Stoffel, & Villar. Of those Castro is highly unlikely to be protected, and I would consider Lo a longshot, though he has the potential to be taken.

That is 8 guys that are virtual locks to be added to the 40 man roster. I think to maximize the players kept, Singleton will be on the outside looking in to start the season.

I'll put the odds at 5%

I'm surprised the record is that high. This is the best minor league team I've followed by far.

Domingo Santana is 3-3 with an RBI single... unfortunately, Lancaster is getting pummeled 6-1 by Inland Empire.

Imagine how much better they'd be if Aplin and Jobby Morales hadn't been promoted....

It's funny, by all accounts they're dominating. But if you actually run the math, they've only won 63% of the time. That works out to 102 games over a 162 game season (which is great) but it's not high compared to other sports (undefeated in football, 72/82 wins in basketball, etc...)

Uh, yeah. I know that thing, and one or two others.

It's a small school, if you went to school there it wouldn't be difficult to figure it out given the various factoids I've dropped here, and I like to keep a low profile.

Why do those stats surprise you? Extremely great teams are the outlier.

Carlos Correa put up lousy numbers in the GCL, but people who saw him there still loved him. One comp to Manny Machado, with better defense.

    Ben Badler?@BenBadler

Correa, no hesitation. And I'm big on Dahl. RT @MichaelSalfino Dahl vs. Correa in a redraft right now. Money no issue. Who do you pick?

It was only an 11 game sample, but Correa put up terrific numbers in the Appy League. Excited by the idea he might have started to make some adjustments to being in the US/pro ball.

[rquoter] Jared (Las Vegas): Robbie Grossman seems to be having a good year in AA. Is he still a 4th outfielder or can he play CF for the Astros?

Jim Callis: He might be both, because I saw the Astros play a couple of weeks ago and they were the worst big league team I've ever seen. But on a good major league club, Grossman's ceiling would be fourth outfielder. He just doesn't have any carrying tools.[/rquoter]
