They aren't same level prospect as him. Over the last ten years the three best prospects coming out of high school have been lebron, oden, and this guy. If he was in the current draft he would be the number 1 pick. This guy is a super athlete plus he has some skills. Only oden is considered a bust, but if he had stayed healthy he might have been Dwight Howard good. Even Rashard Lewis had a lot of good years.
I've heard this crap every single year about high picks, with Irving pretty much being the only exception to that. Before Wiggins, it was Barnes. Before Barnes, it was Wall. Or Beasley. Or Griffin. Or Perry Jones. Or OJ Mayo. Maybe Wiggins is the next superstar. But call me when he does something in college or something like that.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/223259/Bob_Gibbons_Ranks_Wiggins_Ahead_Of_Parker Bob Gibbons, a respected recruiting analyst who has been evaluating high school players since the late 1970s, argues that Andrew Wiggins is the best player in the nation regardless of class. "Who catches your eye the most? Who is the eye-catcher? It is Wiggins. He makes the biggest impression of all," Gibbons said. "He can shoot from three-point range. He is extremely fast, a superb athlete. He can be a shooting guard or small forward at 6-foot-8. I won't say he is the best player I have ever seen but when you look at the players in the classes of 2013, 2014 and 2015, he clearly is the one who stands out above the rest." Gibbons has misgivings about Jabari Parker's athleticism and consistency. "I got only a glimpse of Parker at the NBA Top 100 camp because he came for only one day," Gibbons said. "With all the hype, it was unfair. I expected him to play like Wiggins. But he didn't. He doesn't dominate. He lacks consistency. He has skills but he isn't a super athlete. He is a very capable guy. But can he live up to all the hype? That is a burden he has to carry on his shoulders, being the best player in the nation. He has an excellent knowledge of the game. He has his moments but he doesn't perform on a consistent basis."
Like if he does something in college that makes him legit? Signed Adam Morrison Christian Laetner Pearl Washington
That is what Morey and Les always say, fight for the playoffs. Even when they know they don't have a any chance to win a game in the first round. I don't know if Morey or Les are tired of the mediocrity but the fans sure are. I think either a Shabazz or Andrew Wiggins is definitely a great building block for this team. For some reason, I think if the Rockets have a chance to draft either Shabazz or Wiggins, I feel like Morey will draft a center with a lower ceiling or a PF just because of their love for a big man.
Would you really be upset if the second youngest team in the NBA was an 8th seed & lost to a 1st seed in a sweep? Like the fact that the second youngest team made it to the PO's in the first place is a feat in and of itself. Danny Granger said that he didn't realize how different the playoffs were. I would rather have our young squad learn that at an earlier stage than much later to be honest. Not saying that we are going to make the PO's. I don't think we will. But if we somehow did I definitely wouldn't cry about it even if it was a first round sweep.
Why does everybody just assume we are tanking? Did we not sign Carlos Delfino and maybe overpaid for Asik and Lin that's not "Tanking" moves. Plus KMart is still on the team which could win you an extra 10 games
They never had to say it. They amnestied Scola, traded Lowry for a draft pick, let Dragic walk and stockpiled on PFs. It's obvious the idea was to accumulate young talent and drafts to make a play for Dwight, which didn't go down. Now we've got a gutted roster full of rookies being led by Lin and Asik. Looks like the idea was Dwight or bust, unless you think a team full of rookies & PFs and an abundance of cap space was meant to be competitive this season.
Morey would trade his left nut for Wiggins, right now, on the spot, before one college game has been played.
Last year even the Washington Wizards harbored Roger Mason, Maurice Evans, and Rashard Lewis for some "veteran leadership." Same with Sacramento with Chuck Hayes & Francisco Garcia. Look, Im with you. I know the Rockets are not intentionally trying to throw games. Quite the opposite. I believe the front office thinks that if this group, as young and inexperienced as they are, can be good enough to make the playoffs then they someone on their roster has taken the step up to be an all-star talent and potential franchise player.... and thats what we all want anyways right? Tanking is widely overblown in the GARM. Alot of teams do what the Rockets are doing this year, and lots of those teams also throw in a veteran presence or two to help bring along their youngsters in practice, and stabilize the lockeroom. It says nothing about the direction of the franchise that they signed Carlos Delfino to a 1 year guaranteed deal with a buyout on the second year. -Oh and the Kevin Martin thing... you really think for a minute that Kevin Martin would not be traded in a minute if a deal presented itself that helped this team rebuild for the future? Kevin Martin as a large expiring contract is better for this team's rebuilding strategy than trading him for another large contract with multiple years left on the deal.
