Anyone seen this at NBA.com? Where they are trying to compare Kobe and MJ by saying how similar they play. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/v27Hk5OIe-k?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I say, welcome to the digital age, when someone plays basketball at a similar position and have over 10k shots, they are bound to have similar move. Just check out Yao and Dream.... can we compare them as well? <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/videoseries?index=6&list=PLE0EF17CFF23977FF&hl=en_US" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
that's actually pretty good I know Kobe says he watches a lot of film... but maybe he watches too much film?
At the beginning of his career, it was documented that Kobe even watched and studied MJ in his interviews. And that's why you see the similarities even in the mannerisms when Kobe talks, not just how he plays.
Jordan gets more hang time. The way his body moves in the air is like none other. They can try imitate but will never duplicate.
Most of these are just standard pull ups and fadeaways. I'm not saying Kobe isn't similar to Michael (older Michael), but you can probably make the same video for 10 other SGs in the league.
Kobe's no Jordan, But Jordan's not Kobe either I will say this though, the one thing Kobe does better than Jordan is dagger threes. Otherwise their games are very similar, with Kobe leveraging more on the subtleties of the trade than on brute athleticism.
That's nice Kobe but LeBron will be his own athlete. I also agree with Dreamin: "They can try imitate but will never duplicate."
Right! Looks like he watches MJ games prior to playing, MJ prob. is thinking what car he's taking to dinner at around the same time. Then turns on Sportscenter, and chuckles....there is a reason MJ gave the Most all time, degrading on players, showing up the world speech, that I truly enjoyed. He had so much spite, and Jordan still had to please people growing up, Kobe was private schooled in Italy.
Lol how is kobe a better shooter when MJ was more efficient with a way higher fg% MJ was smart enough not to jack up 4 to 6.5 3pt attempts per game at .337%
MJ didnt take as many 3s and long 2s as Kobe does, there was no zone defense back in the day & defenders were smaller. He had a physical edge at his position during that time period and thats why he was efficient
BTw Wade's FG% nosedived in the playoffs from series to series. His FG% in the postseason ended up being around the same % that Kobe's was when he won his titles
