I think it's the other way around. The republican party has gone so far off the crazy rail it's leaving the sane people behind.
Awkward for reasonable Republicans feeling alienated by religious zealots and misguided toothless r****ds. It's indicative of losing the Center. edit* simulpost!
it's like you pushed 2010 right out of your brain. Republicans are doing fine with independents and their base is far mroe fired up then the Democrats.
Great to see people called on what it is. It's also great that they have no response. This was a case of someone getting busted.
No I never underestimate the gullibility and malleability of of the US voter. If you can scare people into thinking someone is coming from below to get what they have, you can come from above and take everything. But Crist once was a respected Republican Centrist.
So now we know the real reason Chris Christie turned down Romney for the VP slot. He knew they would lose. From the New York Post -- Christie chose NJ over Mitt's VP role due to fears that they'd lose: sources Gov. Chris Christie wasn’t willing to give up the New Jersey statehouse to be Mitt Romney’s running mate because he doubted they’d win, The Post has learned.
this morning at the convention: "We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers," Romney pollster Neil Newhouse said at a panel organized by ABC News.
He made a good decision. Republicans made a mistake in choosing Romney. Of course, Gingrich & Santorum were garbage candidates as well.
There's a big difference between saying the campaign won't be dictated by fact-checkers and the campaign won't be dictated by facts. From what I've seen, 99% of the "fact-checkers" are complete hacks.
It was in response to universal condemnation of Romney's welfare-claims that he's now doubling down on, despite multiple Republican governors asking for the policy that was put in place. His campaign has yet to explain the basis for the argument, which has been ridiculed across the board.
organizations such as FactCheck.org are no different then any other news publications. They all attempt to present the viewer/reader with the facts. The name tends to throw people like mark off. As if FactCheck.org is above it all......
I think the Republican party is in a serious identity crisis, and I'm not sure which is better for them. On the one hand, for someone moderate like me, I feel totally alienated from the party. I'm of the opinion that thinking, rational people believe in evolution, believe in global warming and agree that Obama was born in the United States. So yeah, I place an emphasis on basic intelligence, and no way in hell am I voting Republican until they abandon those policy positions. At the same time, their extremist policies is galvanizing the base way more than the democrats. So not sure which is better overall for the future of the party.
Taibbi LOL And this is where we get to the hypocrisy at the heart of Mitt Romney. Everyone knows that he is fantastically rich, having scored great success, the legend goes, as a "turnaround specialist," a shrewd financial operator who revived moribund companies as a high-priced consultant for a storied Wall Street private equity firm. But what most voters don't know is the way Mitt Romney actually made his fortune: by borrowing vast sums of money that other people were forced to pay back. This is the plain, stark reality that has somehow eluded America's top political journalists for two consecutive presidential campaigns: Mitt Romney is one of the greatest and most irresponsible debt creators of all time. In the past few decades, in fact, Romney has piled more debt onto more unsuspecting companies, written more gigantic checks that other people have to cover, than perhaps all but a handful of people on planet Earth. http://www.rollingstone.com/politic...tory-of-mitt-romney-and-bain-capital-20120829
Dang, the reviews are in and it ain't pretty. Across the board today (even from republicans) everyone is saying what a horrible speech Christie gave last night. Christie said the word "I" 37 times, "Romney" seven times, and "jobs" one time. And didn't mention Romney for the first 18 minutes of his speech. After telling the NY Post that he didn't accept the VP slot because he knew Romney would lose, I'm surprised the RNC let him give the keynote. Looks like all he was doing last night was setting himself up for 2016.
