http://www.click2houston.com/news/E...ton/-/1735978/16287280/-/owoxsbz/-/index.html HOUSTON - Harris County Judge Ed Emmett has made it clear -- any evacuees from Isaac will not be housed in Houston. "To take people from one dangerous area and bring them to another dangerous area, another hurricane zone really doesn't make sense," said Emmett. When hurricane Katrina hit seven years ago, tens of thousands of evacuees were loaded onto buses and brought to Houston. Many of the evacuees where housed at the Astrodome. Houston went on to accommodate 150,000 evacuees. According to some, the influx caused a spike in violent crime and depleted the city's social and medical services. According to Emmett, while it was a great humanitarian gesture, evacuees will not be coming to Houston should New Orleans evacuate due to Isaac.
so... Houston is a commie city now? This is America jack. Americans can go where ever the hell they damn well please
Good! Damn pink bracelet refugees can keep their dreadlocks over there in the old swamp lands. Let Dallas deal with em I say!
Also the crime rate rising in Houston due to Katria evacs was proven false more than once since 2006. I deal with Judge Emmet every week, he is a class A prick, and next time I go into his chamber, I'll be fully decked out in Saints gear. By far my least favorite Judge in Harris County.
The rate in Houston was already on the rise before Katrina hit New Orleans. Yeah, Houston has ALWAYS been a very safe place that doesn't have a influx in illegals, nor has gangs, nor has any type of violence. Sure thing buddy.
Takes like 5 seconds to Google something. Try it sometime. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-t...crime-wave-nonexistent-in-Houston-1715592.php
lol I love it when posters pwn themselves wow, great news. Only murder and robbery increased! Yay! *snort*
wow you are an idiot. it was proven that most of the crimes committed in those areas where Houstonians Robbing and Killing New Orleans Natives over fema checks. I bet you could win a world record for worlds smallest brain. Try it sometime, you could be famous.
To be fair... The Astrodome really wasn't the greatest of all places to house people for a prolonged period of time.
He is the only county judge for Harris County. He is an executive, not a judicial employee. He does not have a district court, and does not handle cases.
I still handle business with him. He has to sign off on a lot of things I do. Chamber, Office... same difference
Obviously, he's talking about filling up buses and sending them our way. Not people who can freely travel here on their own.
