I disliked Vy once he entered the nfl because of all the turncoats that resulted from the texans not drafting him. the turncoats made it miserable for all texans fans with their blind loyalty towards vince. But to say he couldn't run in this league is completely false. He was always able to extend the play. The problem with vince is he thought he could get away with what he had. He didn't put the extra effort to study defenses, according to Fisher's staff. He had what it took physically but not mentally, as he found it difficult having to follow orders from the coolest mustache since freddie mercury. It's not that easy when coach mac isn't kneeling before your presence.
He's a running back who hasn't been a good running back? He's had one good season in six years as the number two pick in the draft. Most people would not be too thrilled with that return I'm guessing.
It was annoying being a texans fan and dealing with that. I totally get that. I meant that he can't run now. He looks slow and maybe out of shape. I don't know if he has a future in the league.
He's been productive and he wasn't used as a running back in New Orleans. They drafted him as a weapon, not necessarily as a running back. In Bush's only year as a featured running back he rushed for 1000 yards and looks to do the same again this year. You are acting like he's done absolutely nothing and I'm crazy for even suggesting otherwise? The guy is entering his prime right now and you guys are acting like he's already a huge bust? Come on man.
it sucks how his career turned out. i guess he has nobody but himself to blame. those piling on and "i told you so"ing can stop the hate. sad way for a houston and texas legend to go down. it is what it is.
They did not use a #2 draft pick on "the next barry sanders" to be a utility guy. He was going to be their back for the future and replace Duece who only played 5 games the year before and had 3 TDs. They did the same thing when they drafted Duece. Ricky was on the roster.
Was put on a pedestal at UT. Didn't have to work at anything, treated like a God, never went to class................ that didn't translate well for him in the real world. Busted out of the NFL and Broke. I blame Mac Brown for the lack of discipline.
There was a lot of question on what Reggie would do as a pro, and it was figured that was the best situation for him where he wouldn't be an everyday back, but just a weapon used all over the field. His first year wasn't too bad: 565 yards rushing, 88rec, 742 yards receiving 9 TDs (225 total yards, 2 TDs in the postseason) Once the injuries started happening, the Saints started using him less.
When all this Mario/Vince/Reggie nonsense started, would anyone have predicted that 6 year later: Mario would only have 10 or more sacks twice in his career? Bush would only rush for 1,000 yards once in his career? Vince would be out of the league? Not to mention the fact that none of them are even playing for the teams that drafted them anymore. All the energy arguing who would be better and it turns out all 3 of them were totally overrated. Crazy.
All 3 have missed a number of games due to injury. All 3 might still be with the original teams if they had stayed healthy.
This is a good point. They all 3 pretty much haven't been that great and VY and Leinart were complete busts.
I don't agree Mario is overrated. Considering the limited pre draft hype he got, he has at least met expectations s. His leaving the Texans had to do with unique circumstances, ie switching to the 3-4, an injury that didn't affect the D adversely, and the Texans having no cap room (they even let Winston go). Mario's $100 million contract speaks for itself.
Reggie Bush was given opportunity to be a feature back from day 1. He simply didnt earn the featured runner spot. Or he was overrated as a feature back to begin with. He wasnt a good back up either. Maurice Jones-Drew was the same kind of undersized runner from the Pac 10 coming into the draft, and he earned his role. The same year Reggie Bush broke the 1,000 yard mark (to his credit. Good job, good hustle) MJD was THE RUSHING LEADER of the league. #2 in total yards from scrimmage. THATS where Reggie Bush SHOULD be, to be considered the best player of that draft.
