Just a little inflammation. Try bath salts (magnesium sulfate, not the face eating kind). does wonders for swelling & pain, especially if you 1. make the water really hot & 2. take two vicodin right before soaking. That really seems to amplify bath salt effectiveness somehow.

Worst case it's a blood clot, in which case you still have a good while before it dislodges & travles to your heart or brain or something more critical than your foot lol.

That's your problem. Try messaging it with your phone or computer.

Go to a doctor if it doesn't get better in a few days, don't want to risk not detecting a serious health condition.

    Anti-inflammatory (advil/tylenol) and ice

Ice it as frequently as you can. Would also suggest seeing a doctor ASAP if it doesn't subside.

IF IT IS GOUT DO NOT ICE!!! Icing gout makes the crystals crystallize faster and become more painful! Stick with warm-hot soaks and elevation. Also you might need higher prescription anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling (Doctor would be highly recommended to prescribe you something)

However if it is not gout, then I am sure the usual soaking and icing and elevation should help it heal in a day or two!

Yes, this is a common treatment for these things, along with keeping it warm.

I wouldn't ice, gout or not.

Compress, move what and when you can to promote lymph movement and elevate.

Ice is used to treat a number of different injuries for the feet/ankle.

I've dealt with foot/ankle pain (ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis) for a long time and the #1 thing that helps with the initial acute pain and inflammation is ice. To say to never use it is just absurd.

yup, Ice it down periodically and stay off your feet. If you have to walk immobilize the ankle area by wrapping it up. If swelling didn't go down yet then you should see a doc.

Probably rolled it in your sleep, give it a couple days and ice it. If it doesn't feel better in a few days see your doctor, because nobody on the internet can tell you what they can.

This, there already have to be dead Cf.net members that didn't go to the doc and asked here instead.
