This is your problem. You don't know what the products are. Do you really think the RECENT Samsung products have copied apple? That's stupid. Just GO hold a Galaxy Note and tell me it's like an iphone.

This **** isn't about Koreans. Who cares about Koreans? It's about America.

You realize it's not the United States of Apple right. You don't pay taxes to apple. This **** is going to hurt American businesses and hurt the ability of American technology companies to compete globally.

Samsung isn't going down because of this. Apple isn't even going to cut off Samsung as a supplier. Samsung is going to keep selling phones in Canada, Europe, Japan, Qatar and Nigeria and keep building new products.

Meanwhile apple just went down 20% in China... we put all our eggs into apple who doesn't even have Jobs anymore to shill years-old technology as groundbreaking innovation to soccer moms and techonoobs. Meanwhile none of our other companies can do **** because apple is going to sue them.

longterm how's that help the US?

Like I said this to me isn't even specifically about apple and if they steal **** or innovate or market or w/e. Fanboys and deniers can fight that one out. What I'm talking about is how the patent courts have gone wild in this country, like so much other government crap that's gone out of control the past decade. Who can we get into office to handle this **** without being buddy buddy and bought off? I thought it was gonna be Obama but aside from crap like gay marriage and abortion and crap I can't even believe we as a country are still fighting about he isn't much different from Bush in most things... including bailing out and bowing down to big companies. Looking at some of the claimed "patents" they sued for I'm literally laughing. Crazy.

Hope big brother google motorola pick up the fight and in the end apple will make a phone call to google, " hey buddy how about you don't sue me and i won't sue you?" * Google motorola hangs up

LOL. Stupid iSheep. Apple spend most of their money on looking for patents and buying up all the new techs out there. It's quite ironic their iPad and iPhone parts are made from Samsung own technology. I'm pretty sure the dumb iSheep think that beautiful keypad on their macbook is created by Apple. Think again and I'm pretty sure they licensed or bought that off from Sony.

lol at you guys are your weak logic. Trying to claim Apple isn't innovative by tossing out very old examples? Not convincing. If other companies did the innovating, then why couldn't they bring it to market and be successful? (helpful hint -- you don't have to answer that)

Protecting patents is important stuff and is critical to ensuring new development continues to take place.

look, I am no fan of Apple, but its pretty clear that Sammy and a bunch of other smaller companies are or did copy Apple...plain and simple

I am glad this happened because I personally think this will push for more innovation and differentiation

What from what I discussed was old? The app store? Notification center? The iPad? Are you too scared to come and argue with someone who actually knows what they are talking about? Just go back and enjoy LTE on your iPhone.. Oh wait.. Sorry. At least I have that on my Nokia...

BTW, the talk to text feature of Siri, it came out on No-Do beta of windows phone months before Siri had it. It was also available in the jailbreaking community for a while too. Also, android has had it for a very very long time. Modern enough for you? Go back to politics, at least there people buy your bs.

LOL you are a big joke. Plenty of companies out there already caught up with Apple and their hardwares. Now Apple is desperately trying to patent the rectangular shape and sue any companies that they think is a threat to them. Stop being ****ing greedy. I see lots of LCD tv and monitors with the same shape, size and they all does the same thing and we don't hear anything about any law suit. I don't see any other computer case makers suing one another for making an almost similar case but Apple will sue them if their case look any similar to Apple.

This is typical stupid crApple being a ridiculous bully. I don't hate their product but I hate their practice.

Are you really stupid enough to believe this is about America vs. Korea? I guess your primitive mindset might actually believe this.

Question for you: What country is Google based in, Korea or America? The real combatants here are two American companies. Can you see beyond your nose?

Tesla? The prestiege wasn't based on a true story. Most over hyped historical figure ever. If he invented wireless energy 100 years ago then we would have it now.

Look, when you list small aspects like pinch to zoom or touch screen it sounds trivial. How about you list ALL of the similarities one after another and then stand firm with your belief. Is it ridiculous to say I am copying your look by saying that I bought the same shoes? Only if that is the only thing I copied. If I show up with the same shirt, same pants, haircut and talk in the same way then that is a different story.

Blame Apple all you want for everything else but Samsung deliberately cloned their devices. How is that breeding better options for the consumer? The only progress is when Apple does something new and Samsung copies that. Google doing their own thing with Android is good for competition and good for the consumer. They aren't trying to rip anyone off.

I would agree with you if it Apple was suing over something that is not fundamental to a phone. Apple fought HTC over the phone having the ability to parse text and recognize phone numbers, addresses and contact info. They didn't sue over code, methods, or any programming elements, rather just the notion that a phone could do that. That is ridiculous. That's like Microsoft suing apple over using an intel chipset.

BTW, apple hasn't done anything "new" in a long time. What I hope you understand in all this is that everybody copies everybody. Apple did what microsoft was unable to do, make a successful tablet. Microsoft tried for years and it didn't fly. Microsoft directly incorporated facebook, linkedin and twitter into their phone's OS. Guess what iOS can now do as well? Companies copy each other, but make incremental improvements. If you think these companies live in a black box and insulate themselves from each other, you are lost as hell.

I find this ruling fair on the basis that the primary source of damages was the infringement of design patents. Samsung's products are an obvious rip of Apple's products from a design perspective.

I agree with Google's stance that several of Apple's patents should become standard-essential, though, particularly multi-touch.

But, again, the ruling was right. The patent system worked with regards to enforcing design patents. I think it needs tweaking with respect to forcing more strong patents to become standard-essential and governed by FRAND licensing. TBH, I think it's fair for manufacturers using Android to pay Apple more for so much of the innovations they've provided. But they should be able to license it if they want to use it.
