Yes, but the bigger the pile of mess, the harder it is for Mitt to argue that is not who he is. Couple that with the RNC theme of "we built this", I think you are going to see flat out class warfare. I wouldn't be surprised if you see Obama passing out packs of crackers with ballots on the back....
Yes I'm sure the guys down at Gawker media spent all day forging LP agreements and fake audited financials for dozens of Caymans investment vehicles in order to perpertrate this hoax. Particularly fail on them because they really aren't even that interesting or even show that much. But maybe that's their dastardly plan! Encyclopedia bmb strikes again!
Romney pulling a Palin; Before Granting Interviews, Romney Demands Reporters Agree Not To Ask ‘About Abortion Or Todd Akin’ On the campaign trail today, Mitt Romney refused to grant interviews to any reporters who wanted to know about his position on abortion, or about Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO), the Senate candidate whose “legitimate rape” comments sparked outrage over the weekend from Democrats and Republicans alike.
I wonder if he'll do that with Obama during the debates? "No, sorry, don't want to talk about Romneycare I'm running for office for Pete's sake!"
I don't have a problem with this. He's made a statement about the comments, saying he disagrees and while he is against abortion, he would maintain a rape exception. Further talk about this is just a distraction from things that are relevant to his campaign, rather than the Missouri Senate race. I'm sure our stupid media would like nothing more than to keep harping on these comments, but they really don't have a place in the presidential race. Maybe we can discuss what to do about the horrible economy (or hell, even Romney's tax returns!).
To say what? We need to drill more, reduce regulation and cut taxes on job creators? That's just a vague license to rape and pillage. If you want to jump start the US you need to re-allocate assets (get the money from where the money is), invest in infrastructure and education to create jobs now and insure jobs in the future. We need to foster innovation on a broad range of energy and information technologies, rebuild an efficient power grid and conserve water. You create demand and growth from the base. You need a little inflation to spur complacent money into investment and reduce the impact of today's debt. You cut incentives to polluting industries, and don't let corporate interest write and direct your policy for short term enrichment .... in other words.... just about the opposite of everything the GOP stands for.
That's nice and all but... We can't talk about the economy because Romney himself won't tell us what his plan is ( Romney Adviser: It's 'Politically Unwise' To Campaign In Specifics. We can't talk about his time at Bain or his taxes ( Mitt Romney Calling On Obama Campaign to Call Truce, Not Discuss Bain Record and Taxes We can't talk about his past stance on the issues, We can't talk about his time as a Governor, We can't talk about Akin or abortion, We can't discuss his religion. So what's left? Oh yeah, bash Obama.
media is shamelessly in the tank for Obama <object width="420" height="245" id="msnbc8bed76" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0"><param name="movie" value="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32545640" /><param name="FlashVars" value="launch=48745259&width=420&height=245" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><embed name="msnbc8bed76" src="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32545640" width="420" height="245" FlashVars="launch=48745259&width=420&height=245" allowscriptaccess="always" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed></object><p style="font-size:11px; font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #999; margin-top: 5px; background: transparent; text-align: center; width: 420px;">Visit NBCNews.com for <a style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;" href="http://www.nbcnews.com">breaking news</a>, <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032507" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">world news</a>, and <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032072" style="text-decoration:none !important; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999 !important; font-weight:normal !important; height: 13px; color:#5799DB !important;">news about the economy</a></p> Remember all those prime time network news specials devoted to Black Liberation Theology the week before the 2008 Democratic Convention? Oh wait...
Is there something negative here? It doesn't sound like a hit piece at all. The Mormon Church itself has been on a massive "I'm a Mormon" publicity campaign the last year to show the positive side of Mormonism, and the people interviewed here all seem to be members of the Mormon community. How is this a negative for Romney? All it does is humanize him and the religion that lots of people are misinformed about.
I don't think it looks like much of an attack on Mormons. At least the preview doesn't look like it. I would like to see a main stream TV outlet do an in depth look at the history of black civil rights movement and the black church and what the Obama presidency means in the context of this history. For example, something like this article: http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2012/09/fear-of-a-black-president/309064/ Instead, we have Fox and other news outlets mindlessly airing Rev. Wright's "God Damn America" clip without context and a discussion that should happen never happening.
R&R's plan is to give the 145,000,000 individual tax payers up to a $2300 tax credit so the government can tell you how to spend it (illusion of choice?) - adding up to $333.5 billion of debt per year funded by 0% dividend tax rates and near-zero capital gains and taxable-interest tax rates. O.K., let me go ahead and write you that check.
The Akin thing could be relevant to his race. Romney is way behind with women voters. The GOP has been doing move after move that are turning off women voters. There was the whole birth control thing, numerous bills by the GOP around the country about invasive medical procedures required before abortions even though they aren't medically necessary, etc. This would be a chance for Romney to come out and speak at how Akin is way off base, and take a stand. The more he does that, the better he looks, the more like a leader he looks. His campaign needs that. However, he won't do it because he's afraid of the right wing.
Romney pulls into the lead in the latest poll of likely voters http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...-race-for-white-house-tightens/#ixzz24PT1ocFj Less than a week before the Republican convention begins, the race for the White House is a virtual tie. According to a Fox News poll of likely voters, the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan ticket receives the backing of 45 percent, while the Barack Obama-Joe Biden ticket garners 44 percent. The poll, released Thursday, is the first Fox has conducted among likely voters this year, which means an apples-to-apples comparison can’t be made to previous polls. Likely voters are eligible/registered voters who will most likely cast a ballot in this year’s presidential election. This is also the first Fox poll to ask about the top and bottom of the major party tickets: Democrats Obama and Vice President Joe Biden against Republicans Romney and Paul Ryan. Romney announced his vice presidential pick of Wisconsin Rep. Ryan on August 11. Both tickets have already gained the support of many of their key voting blocs. Romney has the edge among white Evangelical Christians (70-18 percent), white voters (53-36 percent), married voters (51-38 percent), men (48-40 percent) and seniors (50-41 percent). Obama has the advantage among black voters (86-6 percent), women (48-42 percent), lower income households (53-35 percent), young voters (48-39 percent) and unmarried voters (55-34 percent). Independents back Romney by 42-32 percent (one in four is undecided). Independents were vital to Obama’s 2008 victory, backing him over Republican John McCain by 52-44 percent (Fox News exit poll). Interesting I wonder why FOX changed the polling methodology from registered voters to likely voters with this new poll? Probably because last week their registered voter poll showed Obama with a 9 point lead. And we just can't have that narrative going into the convention.
Why don't they just not count half the people who say they will vote for Obama? That will be much easier.
Romney cracks a birther joke At a campaign stop in his home state of Michigan Friday, "I love being home, in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born," Romney said after introducing his wife, fellow Michigan native Ann. "No one's ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place where we were born and raised." we don't care about your birth certificate Willard, we want to see the tax returns.
