Not to derail, but there are a few places we could sent Patterson- Bulls (0for a tpe and pick) or maybe the Bucks for the same thing.

Although I am disappointed by Pat, I agree with you.

Ppat will be a star, and no pick from Spurs or Toronto would compensate that.

The spurs also wanted Vasilis Turnover for, wait for it.......Scola. So let's not act like they have a perfect track record.

Bucks might be the one team that have as many PF’s as we have. And Henson will be way better than PPat.

I know stats aren't everything but let's take a look at them anyway:
    Blair (in 3 years)
    7.8/6.4
    8.3/7.0
    9.5/5.5

    Patterson (in 2 years)
    6.3/3.9
    7.7/4.5

So Blair's worst year is better than Patterson's best year. Outside of stats Blair has playoff experience and has has practiced with one of the best PFs of all time.

It would be a bad move to sell Patterson low like this. He's better than he played last year and worth more than a low first round pick and a backup PG.

Gary Neal is a spot up shooter nothing more. He's basically a 6" PatPat, and bigs are more valuable than guards, and Pat's a lot younger. I know his value isn't very high right now, but, I wouldn't do this.

Even if legit, the picture of this trade is obviously not complete. Given that, I would hate to see the Rockets give any player away for less than their value in return, even if they have a glut at that position. The problem with having so many 4s on the roster is that their value as assets diminishes if they are not played. Other GMs realize this and they sometimes test the waters with "value" offers (also known as being predatory).

Regardless of what anyone thinks of PPat's ceiling, shipping him out for anything less than a first-round pick would be a bad sign. PPat's value to the team and his value in a trade should not be seen as one and the same.

PPAT goes off in 2k12, his inside, close and mid range all get over 90. Beast.

Don't much like the idea of trading Patterson for peanuts. He's still got time on his contract, doesn't hurt cap flexibility, and one of the few players we have with NBA experience. He looked good as a rookie and bad as a sophomore. I'd rather just see this season what sort of player he's going to be. If he does well, we get more. If he does poorly, it doesn't matter because we'll be bad this season anyway, and we can waive him for about the same benefit this trade would yield anyway.

They never wanted him for anything but a salary dump.

i thought they traded Scola as a sign of good faith/charity, since Scola's window to the nba is closing due to his euro contract clause

Gary Neal is not good, and is not an NBA-caliber back up point guard. If thish rumor is true, it can only be about the draft picks.
