This trade rumour was discussed in the random trade thread a few days ago.

I said it there, and Ill say it again.

If they are moving Patterson for someone like Neal, then there better be a pretty awesome draft pick coming along with him back to the Rockets.

Patterson is not going to stump the growth of players like D-Mo, and Jones. If anything he's going to help them become better players. Also, its so young in their careers to really even know who is the better player at this point.

You dont get rid of one young player to play another young player until you know outright that that player you are moving is not going to end up being the better player.

Right now we have no idea what D-Mo/Jones/White are going to be so if I was Morey I would try to hang on to Patterson for another season to see what happens first.

Gary Neal is already 27 and he's more of a combo guard... can't we do better than this?

I doubt this whole scenario. What do the Rox get, a so-so back-up guard? They already have that with Douglas. Clearing out PatPat? So he can bring Blair a prime fit to tissue soft-soft Toronto and thus hurt the Raps' pick value to the Rox?

As 'rumored' I believe it's an internet hoax.

This! If you think that D-Mo, T.Jones, and Royce all have more upside than Pat, there's no point to keeping pat in a rebuilding year. He actually doesn't fit our team at all right now.

I hate the idea of making Toronto better, but i hope we move Pat for a pick. I wish him the absolute best because he's a good guy.

I think you're right. I posted that really early; I don't think my brain had completely booted up yet. We could possibly ask them to further relax the terms on the pick they owe us. It's also possible that they own a pick to send our way... didn't they get a couple from Miami?

Maybe an insider here can shed some light on this, because the only reason I tend to believe it is because the Spurs want to trade Blair. It's also no secret we are stacked at PF and we need to develop Jones, D-Mo & White so Patterson is indeed obsolete and doesn't fit our plans.

Its a good trade considering how many PFs we have and our lack of depth at the PG spot.
Also lol at how many people say Gary Neal is crap. He did better this season than P Pat(you will get crap for crap). If we get a pick as well this deal is fantastic and we also get rid of 1 contract in Shaun Livingston.

Ah, so much love for ppat.

The garm never fails, and ppat is no longer the flavor of the month. We should trade him for bottle of that limon salt and a natty light so the "kids" can play.

Just so everyone is clear, ppat might be a better NBA player than ANY of our current rookie class. The truth is we don't know because none of them have played.

The uninjured ppat from his rookie season was pretty good and San Antonio has proven to be pretty good at scouting... Just sayin.

Why would San Anotonio trade Blair + Neal for Patterson? Blair is much better than Patterson.

Doesn't make much sense to move Patterson for Neal unless we get a pretty decent sweetner.

There may be a framework to this, but I think it will be different.

I dont think they're ready to give up PPat.

As for martin for calderon, I dont see the point. Lin's going to get like 37 mins a game. Morey isnt going to bring in such an expensive back up to play around 10 mins a game, while losing our only other true shooting guard, who just happens to be a vet that can actually teach Lamb something. Lamb can definitely learn a lot from Martin, offensively of course. Martin still knows about getting open in the NBA and drawing fouls.

If that's the case, we should have gave them all up or whatever it took for Dwight.

Patterson isnt going to be any better than what we've seen from him. He's expendable.

No he's not. Patterson getting rushed back from injury in a lockout shortened season with a new head coach and coaching staff and a largely overhauled roster.

Patterson got better as the season progressed as he got more healthy and played the post with Sammy and Marcus. He's rookie year wasn't a fluke. He hasn't hit his potential yet.

I'll take atleast a year of Patterson as starter, I guarantee he'll boost his value beyond trading for a 27 yr old bench player
