Neal backs up Lamb. Calderon backs up Lin.
Both provide very strong veteran options in case one of them hits some walls.
add a pick on top of it.
    Makes sense.

For the Raptors, Martin replaces DeRozan. Same ****ty defense at SG, but at least offense will be very good.
And John Lucas III becomes their backup point guard instead of Calderon, and he fits their defensive identity better.

basically. except I think PF/C rotation will be different. Donatas is no center.

Delfino can back up Parsons at SF as well so that is another very strong veteran option at another position. But I think the Raptors are likely to keep Jose. In Kyle Lowry's press conference the GM alluded to the fact, when asked if Jose would stay, that there will be competition for the starting pg spot and that the cream rises to the top.

rather trade martin and protected dallas pick to cleveland for varejao the only thing is varejao is locked in this year and next with the third year being a team option but i would still do it cause we need a backup center

Hmm. Adding, Jose and Neal makes us a better team. Not amazingly better but a little more competitive than before. Whatever, I am down to role with whatever Morey decides to do.

If the Hawks do get involved, it would be great to get our pick back.

We need that toronto pick to be bad though

    Lowry/Lucas
    Martin/DeRozan
    Fields/Ross
    Bargnani/Johnson/Davis
    Valanciunas/Gray

Plus like 5 other rotation players, they would be solid as hell.

Probably add Kleiza at the top of the rotation, maybe even as a starting 3, he looked healthy this summer (and before his knee surgery, he was becoming their 2nd best player).
A perfect player from their system perspective. Tough, not the most defensively gifted, but still a solid defender. A bulldog, with a solid shot. Perfect for Casey.

I agree, they get better. But then again, it's not like this trade adds them 10 wins.
And they could trade with someone else anyway.

and probably add DeJuan Blair as the main backup 5, if this rumor is correct.
    A very deep team, indeed.

though it's funny, this seems to be a forum rumor now that i clicked the link.... doesn't seem too credible.

Why? Isn't Patterson worth more than lottery-protected pick?

Neal for Pat means one year contract for two years contract (plus perhaps a pick) - nothing more, nothing less.
