I'm not sure what other undrafted player in the history of the NBA in their 5th career start after being cut by multiple team and close to being cut again would have had the heart/courage/confidence/cajones to wave off Tyson Chandler and take and make that gamewinner. Lowry wouldn't have. Dragic wouldn't have. I don't quite know what kind of ceiling Lin has, but he certainly has "IT". 2. Not since Michael Jordan have I seen a crowd rise to their feet and cheer after an opponent just sank the gamewinner dagger on their own team. Off the court, he is absolutely without a doubt a superstar in every sense.
I can see you're used to talking out of your ass. You don't have a clue about research methodology, validity, reliability, measurement error, how to read scales, how to manipulate them, how to interpret data properly, etc. The BAM scores indicate that Lin had test results comparable with #1 overall draft picks. And the data was recorded at a time when Lin did not have the size or strength he has now. The "agility" data is meaningless unless we know exactly what it measures. It's like saying someone is really smart because they "took a test." Well, what test? What were the questions? What are reliability and validity? The other data can be easily corroborated by the other data already presented, and by photographic evidence. But then again, photographic evidence isn't evidence. Again, javale mcgee-level stupidity.
Wrong again: BAM scores show Lin's data is comparable with #1 overall draft picks. Lin doesn't have "good" athleticism, he has elite level athleticism. Add to that, Lin's strength training regimen is outstanding. I DARE anyone show me any footage demonstrating that John Wall's offseason training is more rigorous. I DARE anyone to show me how Wall is improving on his weaknesses. Rose is rehabbing, and his future athleticism is a question mark. Kyrie is a young guy who can only improve. Westbrook is great, too. These are all elite level athletes. Lin's measurements are on par with these elite level athletes. Surprise, Lin IS an elite level athlete. Oh, wait, he's Asian, so therefore, he's not.
Hmm, Lin is 6'3", ie 75." The basket is 10' ie 120." Top of Lin's head 8-10" below the rim, ie 110 to 112." Therefore vertical is between 35 and 37." Westbrook max vert. 36.5." Conclusion: Lin and Westbrook have identical verticals.
There's no other def. of max vert. than to repeat that it's a max vert. If stating this elementary fact when people try to delude themselves that max vert is not what it is, then it's reasonable to state that those who enjoy this delusion are javale mcgee level stupid. Which they are.
This is because you don't take data seriously. The BAM data shows that Lin had an overall score comparable, not identical, but very close to #1 overall draft picks, such as wall and irving. We know that Lin has gotten much bigger and stronger since. And the agility tests are a black box that no one has access to. The photographic evidence shows that Lin's vert. is identical to Westbrook's. Other data already posted shows Lin is equally fast. You don't have a shred of evidence on your side, I'm afraid. You keep repeating the same assertion without any evidence.
The photo shows that top of Lin's head is significantly less than a foot below the rim. This means that Lin has a minimum vertical of 35." Ignoring evidence right in front of your eyes = fail, size seven font. Or larger.
Okay. But you are relying on a picture to come to your conclusion that he and Russ identical max verts. You do have a valid point in saying that his off season regimen has improved significantly so his numbers now are likely a lot better than they were when he did the Bam test. But just because they are likely a lot better doesn't mean that you can say he is comparable to Russ. The best we can say is that he is great athletically (much better than he was as a rookie) but how great nobody knows conclusively. Relying on a picture and using the eye test to get your numbers isn't reliable.
You're delusional. A basketball net is less than 18" in length. The top of Jeremy's head is in the middle of the net. That means the top of his head is 7-9" below the rim. That's 8" or 112" off the ground. Subtract his height, 75." The difference is 37." You'd have to be a complete idiot to deny these objective facts.
Sigh... I am very used to talking out of my ass. It's actually a very useful skill to have. Unfortunately for you, today I can simply rely on facts while you make baseless accusations and rely on assumptions not supported by reality. Throw around all the childish insults you want, it reflects more upon yourself than anything. Good day.
No not really without factual and reliable evidence for now, Freak athlete: Russ Rose Wall Non Freak Athlete: Lin If you provide factual and reliable evidence (not pictures) that supports your assertion I will happily put Lin in the freak athlete section, his race has nothing to do with it. Him not being a freak athlete does not take anything away from his ability to as a pg which I think is most important.
ITT: Lin lovers hard at work Seriously if he was as athletic as you guys make him out to be he would've had more than 2 dunks in 25(?) games.
You repeat the same moronic statements over and over again. The photos show Lin has a minimum vert. of 35" and it may be up to 38." All of the speed tests are posted in previous pages. You have no data, as usual, just empty repetitive assertions.
I've been a rocket fan since before I could the miniature red and orange rockets basketball my dad gave me, and dozens of "We Believe" posters pilfered from the Chronicle covered the walls of my room and his home office next door. I am also a huge Lin fan, and find his story to be one of the best I've heard in a long, long time. I always considered myself an intellectual and a student first, but I've always had the sterling influence of playing sports from when I was 5, until I graduated high school. I wanted to be a college athlete, but chose to be a student first and foremost. I respect Jeremy very much for being able to do both at the highest level. That being said, a lot of the recent discussion in the lull that is August for basketball fans brought forth by new fans, LOFS, and the old timers has been a damned cancer in my opinion. Arguing over a few inches of vertical, sheesh. The last time I checked this was the Houston Rockets, not the New York Knicks.
While you rely on BAM scores, even fans realize with the naked eye that Rose, Westbrook play above the rim most of the time. Lin is there but few would say he has the explosion of those guys. For example: Budinger is a high jumper but he does not have the quickest first step, and he can't really finish in traffic like the elite guys... and I would say he is a pretty good athlete Jeremy does not seem have elite explosiveness, this coming from a fan of his, and I am not saying that it is very important to a PG's game
I did post this one, from his Harvard days. I'm pretty clued up about vertical stuff and the training that goes to enhance it, so I know what I'm talking about thank you very much beside since when did running jumps of under 40 inches be considered elite? Not in my world. There are guys jumping between 42 and over 50 inches, now that's elite.... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/2IpPlh9DZ2o?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Your not getting it. Your relying on a photo. That isn't reliable. You also have no data and are also repeating empty repetitive assertions. Your entire premise is based on a photo. Pot calling the kettle black.
