Now you have kid with a felony who probably isn't going to make money to pay the girl and most likely is going back to jail or on welfare both paid by tax payers like me.

Obviously they shouldn't do the crime. That goes without saying.

I think what I've quoted above pretty much explains your entire viewpoint on this topic, and also why everyone trying to reason with you is bashing their head against a brick wall.

Out of curiosity, have you ever "mistakenly" bashed anyone's head against a brick wall? Don't worry. Probation only.

Probably, though assault does not mean hit. And he was never accused. Could have easily played a role depending on testimony, and certainly should.

That sucks but the schools he was getting interest from are not top schools. This guy isn't a "top" recruit. Unless you think Dayton, Michigan State, and Xavier are on the same level as Kentucky or Kansas.

3 years in the pen (probably will be out much sooner) is a stiff penalty. Esp when she wanted to drop the charges.

We're always quick to toss people in jail or prison but the ones with money usually come out unscathed.

I've already mentioned my criminal background. Assault with a deadly weapon, simple battery, and carrying a concealed weapon. I actually detailed it in the felon thread. I was a kid, I did something stupid and nobody got hurt.

I've yelled at people that didn't deserve it.

I once beat up a kid for saying something I didn't like.

I once was b**** slapped by my father that left me bleeding and my tooth chipped.

I've hurt my wife multiple times when taking sexual play too far. I like to play rough, and I have a high pain threshold, while my wife does not.

I've stolen from people I care about to feed my p*rn and what was an alcohol addiction.

Have I ever hit a woman other than sexually? No. Would I ever do what this guy did? No. That doesn't mean I don't realize that people deserve 2nd chances, and that our goals should be to help make people like this guy into someone that can benefit society rather than continue to hurt it.

    So..... Farmer assaults her.....

He finds her, assaults AGAIN, hits her while she is in the corner by her apartment, drags her by her hair.

She reports it to the police.....

He then threatens her via phone and texting.....

He is sentenced to 3 years, with the possibilty of early release....

And the response is "I wonder if it is because his girlfriend is white?" (she isn't) and that well we all make mistakes, lets let him go... hell his abused ex girlfriend wants him free...

Unreal, sometimes things are just WRONG and what he did is wrong and he needs to pay the price. Yes, he loses his scholarship and chance and college, too damn bad.. he should of thought of that before he committed a premeditated crime... and if he doesn't think about the consequences, then he does not need to be free to walk the streets.

Jail is about punishment first, rehabilitation second. Personally, I think 3 years for beating on a woman is a light punishment. Then again, I don't know the typical sentencing for this crime.

The "kidnapping" part is what did him in. Lace didn't do that.

The same thing would have happened if Lace did this at Ric...

LOL who am I kidding? Rice would never get a top 100 recruit in their wildest dreams. LULZ

It isn't that I feel sorry for him, but rather I feel for everyone else.

It isn't that he doesn't deserve to go to prison for beating a girl, but that it benefits nobody.

I also understand that people can come back from incredibly stupid decisions. Maybe he's just another idiot basketball player who would just end up screwing up again, or maybe he's a decent person with an incredible anger management problem that can be handled through therapy and getting him out of what is likely a bad area.

If I was the girl's father, I'd have gone and beat this guy's ass.

If I was the boy's father, I'd be filled with sadness, anger, disappointment, and more.

I can only hope I don't go through this on either side.
