I'm not arguing for anyone else to be the "GOAT"...(this is becoming comical) I'm just posing a "there is no wrong answer" kind of question and asking why do YOU think he was the best ever.
On just his skillset there was nothing you could do to stop Michael. His game had no weakness. Combine his skills, mindset, work ethic with his freak of nature athletic abilities and you have the GOAT.
Damn, I haven't seen MJ highlights in awhile, but this right here makes those Kobe Bryant Clinic mixes look like a middle school pick up game.
Yeah, and my point is that statistics back his GOAT status up. He may not have been #1 in each category, but he's on there consistently and there's no one else statistically that can be considered over MJ.
He's the GOAT b/c of the TOTALITY of his individual and team accomplishments, and what he did off the court for the game of basketball. I don't see anybody ever eclipsing MJ as the GOAT. He set the bar way too high.
List of NBA teams that won the championship without an allstar big (PF or C) Can't count '99 Spurs because of the lockout (no allstar game) All 6 Jordan championships '89 Pistons - Isiah Thomas '75 Warriors - Rick Barry '51 Royals
If that is the new benchmark for the G.O.A.T then it goes to Yao Ming. He introduced NBA basketball to over 1 billion people.
A couple more stats: #1 in career PER(regular season and playoffs) #1 in career playoff points(total and average)
the reason why you can't just present numbers without a context is why you are wrong OP. Its not that hard to comprehend.
Comparing anyone's season ppg to Wilt's one season in the 60's as an argument Bringing up all star appearances? wtf Bringing up Lebron in the discussion at all while talking about GOATS Definitely not a troll thread
nobody cared about the nba in the 60s and there were only 9 teams those celtics championships in the 60s were easier than the championships won from the 80s and onwards
I see we have another person who didn't read the post, they only read the title. I AM NOT MAKING AN ARGUMENT for why he ISN"T the GOAT. I am merely asking the question "Why is he the greatest of all time to you?"
I agree, I think just the way he approached every single Regular season game, All-Star game, and playoff game make him the GOAT. It kind of reminds me of Jerry Rice in terms of the work ethic, the competiveness, and the desire he had to be perfect.
