    Hey **** beaks, little lesson from an English major time.

    Hip Hop = rhyming words

    Poetry = blood on paper.

    Jesus.

    Byron...it's not poetry unless in rhymes
    from Don Juan
    lol

    my favourite poem is "Booz Endormi" Hugo

    close second Coleridge's "Kubla Khan, A Vision in a Dream, A Fragment" dude dreamt the poem, woke up in the middle of the night to put it on paper...he was interrupted by a knock on the door that caused him to lose the dream, rendering the poem unfinished

    Lol chill out moe, i asked, because what they wrote about is struggle and pain, and if you were to listen to what they said without the.music im sure it would come across as poetry in a different form...

    and to say 2pac wasnt a poet is in fact a lie(and i think you were so quik to judge and be mad is probably because you do not like hihop)... because the truth is he wrote mutliple poems and produced books of poetry...

    So please dont be so quik to bash me because we have different views and thoughts, you are very respected(by me included) and this is an uncalled for outburst...

    Byron Poems are as sensual on the tongue as they are on the mind...An obvious example would be:

    She walks in beauty, like the night
    Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
    And all that’s best of dark and bright
    Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
    Thus mellowed to that tender light
    Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

    One shade the more, one ray the less,
    Had half impaired the nameless grace
    Which waves in every raven tress,
    Or softly lightens o’er her face;
    Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
    How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

    And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
    So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
    The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
    But tell of days in goodness spent,
    A mind at peace with all below,
    A heart whose love is innocent!

    Just reading it is a pleasure :)

    I'm not bashing you, and when I listened to hip hop, Tupac was my favorite and I agree he had a definite way with words.

    And anyone can publish a book of poetry.

    Pac was a musician, not a poet. Jim Morrison, same thing.

    Please do not confuse the two.

    Should poetry be bound by rules?

    Should it be told in only certain ways, or in only sonnets?

    I believe in the meaning behind the words more so than how they are written...

    Yes, everyone can make a book of poetry. But i still believe 2pac was a poet. I read his book of poetry when in junior high maybe highschool and remember it was decently good. That being said i was (and still aint) a master of poetry at all. But i refuse to disclaim someones words and intuitive thoughts as not being poetry only because its not in a set standard or style of writing. Of course you being an engliah major you will disagree, and thats fine, but its were we differ. I like hearing how people can speak of a struggle and heartbreak, whether it be poetry or hiphop(which is why i included eminem[not all of eminem, certain songs])...
