    carayip,
1 some people here think the rookies are superstars already.

Your being unfair. These videos don't change the fact that if he gets his head on straight he could be a high impact player for his team. He has the tools he just needs to focus more and I think he will. And all this stuff stopped once he was in Denver which is a better situation for him. Less youth and a different coach.

If JaVale can be deemed a possible star by Dream himself, i'm absolutely sure our rookies can be as well.
This is a very bad example, but Whiteside trained with the Dream before he stepped on an NBA court. So enough of that haven't played an NBA game mess.

He's already in his mid 20's. It's unlikely that his basketball IQ is going to take a quantum leap forward at this point.

There are lots of terrific role players who are "high impact": Noah, Ibaka, etc. These guys are not superstars, just very hardworking role playing bigs.

He is in a better situation with the Nuggets. A better franchise and look how much he blossomed this season. Sometimes something as simple as a change of scenery does wonders for someones BBIQ no matter how old you are. And the man is still young at the age of 24. I never said he will be a superstar but at the same time you can't say he absolutely will not nobody knows. And his length, mobility and athleticism lends itself to greatness.

I think people overestimate the impact of the Hakeem mentoring thing. I mean seriously. Do you really think spending like 2 weeks and 2 hours a day with Hakeem really makes much difference? I know Hakeem is GOD here. But come on.

If you are elite like Lebron, yes. if you are a scrub or rookie, no.

As far as McGee goes, his turn around actually started when he got traded. It was evident then that he could be much better than he had been.

Exactly. Even the Wizards said where was this guy. This was the player we were looking for.

You mean Michael Jordan? dude, what nba history did you read?

the Wizards completely sucked with Juwan Howard and Webber on their team together. Getting rid of Juwan Howard's what? 130 million dollar contract was Jordan's great accomplishment. Plus unretiring actually made them a better team than before. Even at that age. At least they sold some tickets.

Doesn't matter how proven he is, dude. The point was, they could always learn from Hakeem no matter where they are in their careers.

I'm absolutely sure Dream isn't in the business of calling every player with a "R" next to their name in the roster an all star, especially anybody you mention.

this is what he said about Whiteside:

"He has all the tools," Olajuwon said. "If he goes to the team that has a good big man he can practice against, he can get confidence. If he gets the right coach that knows that he is a talent and will play him and encourage him, he can come along quickly. But as you know, with the draft, he does not know what to expect."

It surely doesn't sound like this:
"No question, I see him as another star," Olajuwon said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "That guy should dominate the league.

    Zboy,

thanks. you got to school these kids too. some of them just lack the historical knowledge, others are hopeless, like that one who is obsessed with rookies and scrubs and potential D-leaguers.
