I'm just saying I could see how it could make some feel uncomfortable. To me it doesn't matter.

Because the forum description says "Politics, Religion, Race? Not here - Take that to the debate forum"?

I was watching Manchester City game today, and was reminded of this thread. Samir Nasri displaying his "Eid Mubarak" Tshirt ater scoring the winning goal. A very entertaining second half

There was also a pic of Hakeem at Houston chronicle website celebrating his holiday...

Threads that have been in the BBS Hangout in the past...

    "Merry Christmas"
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=212636&highlight=christmas

    "Happy Diwali"
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=175733&highlight=diwali

    "Happy Hanukkah"
    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=159539&highlight=Hanukkah

This thread and the others above do not bother me and it seems the mods do not have a problem with these kind of threads in the BBS Hangout either. There really isnt much to debate about some wishing well on others on a religious occasion.

I can see how someone like you might have a problem with "Happy Eid" thread. The best option for someone like you would be not to even enter a thread like this. But I can also see how someone like you cannot stay out of a 'Muslim" thread either.

I know plenty of Muslims that probably "celebrate" Christmas more then Eid, myself included.

But its nice that you think all 1.5B Muslims worldwide are exactly alike.

Someone like you apparently has not realized that I purposely did not start a debate on this thread - people still started debating anyway.

One thing to note, however, is that in none of the threads you quoted, the well wishes were restricted to members of the same religion. In this one, they were. Small, but interesting difference.

Wtf lol? Muslims don't expect you to celebrate Eid. And you don't see them protesting on streets about these kind of things, do you?

my comment was in response to someone saying they wished America would pay homage and respect to Eid.

    Why would Muslims celebrate Christmas?
    Do all Christians celebrate Christmas?
Is this a dumb ass argument?

I feel the Houston area is very accepting of Islamic traditions and holidays. Glad to live in such a well diverse area that is cultured. I mean we rent out and pack Reliant Stadium now on Eid among the other mosque locations across the city.

Again... my comment was in response to someone saying they wished America would pay respects to the holiday.

And you proved my point. Muslims don't celebrate Christian holidays. And yes, majority of Christians celebrate Christmas or at least acknowledge it.

Doubt Muslim nations are doing any type of celebrations in regards to Christian beliefs or holidays. As evident by the oppression of Christians in these nations.

Happy EID! I'm not religious but I admire the fact that Muslims can go a full month fasting and pray multiple times in the day. That is some dedication and discipline that shines through in all aspects of life not just during Ramadan.
