Preseason Game 2 - 49ers @ Texans

Watching them in last year's preseason, it really looked like the 49ers were going to be a prime Luck contender.

Not going to be there, but won't miss it.

49'ers are going to be a top team this year.

 

Yeah i remember after that game (a game Arian should not have olayed and the staff should have given him an extra week off, but i digress...) and Niners fans were saying Harbaugh was using it to evaluate his players. I laughed and told them they just sucked and at least they could get Luck. Then the season started...

According to my Uverse guide here in Austin, CBS and NFL Network are both airing the Cowboys in that timeslot. No go for us Austinites? Gotta do this free p*rn style?

Kubiak said the starters will play about a quarter and a half. Andre Johnson will play less than that. Caldwell/Brooks and Butler/Newton will see action into the third quarter.

Kubiak wants Case Keenum to take snaps with the second team. It's not known if he'll play before Beck, however.

Keep an eye on the quarterbacks and how they throw the ball. The NFL is experimenting with a new football. The football is made with synthetic leather laces. It'll only be used during week 2 of the preseason. So far the reviews have not been good. QB's complain the laces cut their fingers. It kind of reminds me when the NBA went to a new ball a few years ago. After disastrous results, they were forced to go back to the old ball.

I heard Wade Phillips really wanted Aldon Smith but the 49ers grabbed him before our pick.

Question: Would you rather have Aldon Smith or JJ Watt?

 

Watt. We probably wouldn't have drafted Reed if we got Smith in the first round so things played out really well for us. Watt is a game changer at 3-4 end which is more rare than playmaking OLB's, which we for sure have 2 and looks like a potential 3rd in Mercilus.

I'll be at the game tomorrow and will be hitting up tailgate right when the gates open. I was at the playoff game too and although I know the atmosphere won't be anywhere near the same, I'm expecting it to still be crazy.

 

sacks are ridiculously sexy to the media, that is the only reason he was not in the top 3 nominees for DROY. Stupid refs robbed him of at least 2 sacks.
Watt disrupts all the time not just on passing plays. Also, Smith had character issues coming out and what does he do? Dui and arrested .

tomorrow should be fun. In years pass 2006 and earlier, watching first team offense in the preseason was inhumane!

 

Hopefully I can find a way to watch this tomorrow on TV. Really want to see some starters play early in the game.

 

Got high expectations for this game, in 10 years everyone's going to look back and remember this as the game where Case Keenum takes the starting QB spot.

 

Case Keenum likes to do too many crossovers. Probably not happening.

 

I think Watt is easily the better player than Smith, and that's no knock on Smith. They are both beasts, but Watt has multiple DPOY potential.
