http://pointsandfigures.com/2012/08/16/corzine-will-not-be-prosecuted/ What a disgrace by Eric Holder's Justice Department ... again. All the MF Global prosecutors, Holder, Obama and Corzine are pals. So what's a billion dollars or two among friends? Afterall, the victims didn't have faces. They were pensioners and pension plans -- all nasty capitalists who have money to burn anyway. Personally, I think Romney should use this as a prime political issue. As it turns out, Obama is a lot cozier with Wall Street than Romney.
I am encouraged by the fact that the two posters above feel that reckless Wall Street traders should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I agree with them. This man, unless he's going to help convict multiple high-level offenders, should face a long prison term.
I've never been against Wall Street, but I am firmly opposed to the crooks on Wall Street whether they be from MF Global or Goldman Sachs. I still think American businesses should adopt the German inspired corporate payment system. The highest paid person on the totem pole (the CEO for example) might make 1000 times (or whatever number the board sets) more than lowest person on the pay scale totem pole (a janitor for example). If the board gives the CEO a 5% raise, then all employees from high to low get the same 5% raise. The corporate board, of course, then has to be careful about pay increases, but the raise across the board floats all boats from top to bottom. That wouldn't stop embezzling like at MF Global, but more employees would feel they have skin in the game.
This sounds reasonable to me, but I also think the percentage that the highest level makes, compared to the lowest level, should be capped.
Granted, the pay plan needs some tweaking, but the excessive bonuses, golden parachutes, etc. would be severely curbed. What I like is ambition is not curtailed, i.e. employees moving up the corporate ladder, but, what is curtailed, is the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Also, the government has nothing to do with the structure -- the corporate board sets the low rate and the percentage compared to the high rate.
Nevermind that there was a DOJ investigation into Corzine and that Adelson hasn't been charged with anything (same as Corzine) - but hey, keep making up your own facts. thumbs, from your own article that you linked: Third is the idea that prosecutors looked at all the evidence and decided that the case was too tough to prosecute. Convicting someone means, “beyond a reasonable doubt” and they may have felt that Corzine could have created enough reasonable doubt in the jury room to walk. I am betting on the third version. Do you have any evidence that this is incorrect? A lot of Wall Street people (Goldman, etc) who hate Obama and are very staunch Romney supporters also got away with a lot of crap. The likely reason for all of this is that what they did is too much of a gray area or too complicated to prosecute under our current laws. It's a reason to reform our laws - but you can't prosecute unless you have a clear case, and that's a problem with all of these people right now.
Justice prosecutes the "tough" cases it wants to prosecute. The ones that involves Obama's donor pals seem to be automatically too tough to prosecute. Solyndra is another examples of too tough to prosecute.
Such as? What about his Wall Street enemies who support Romney? Why do they seem identically tough to prosecute? Solyndra is under investigation by both the FBI and Treasury Dept. Do you just make stuff up?
1. Trevon Martin shooting, immigration law, voter ID (despite SCOTUS rulings), etc. 2. Many of them, including Bain Capital, were big Obama contributors but have cut back because they were horrified by his politics. However, just because the SEC was too busy watching p*rn, the Wall Streeters committing illegal acts should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. 3. The polar ice caps will melt before there is a serious investigation of Solyndra, sort of like Fast & Furious. Investigations don't look good in an election year because they probably won't reflect well on Obama.
Odd, someone with the name Jon Corzine has helped raise $500,000+ for Obama's election campaign. Most likely coincidental and even if related it would likely be of no significance.
Another thing I would add from the German system is that they set aside one Board seat for a rank and file employee to fill.
Eric Holder is the biggest joke to ever hold the AG position and it is not even close. The man is really pathetic.
What federal charges have been filed in the Trayvon Martin shooting? They basically won their case on immigration law. And while many Voter ID cases are still in process, they've won most of the ones they've been involved in. Maybe they weren't as difficult as you'd like to believe. So your position is that Obama won't prosecute his own supporters or his former supporters who are now his enemies? So basically, you have no evidence to support your position - just a bunch of worthless speculation.
