Granted it was a long time ago (90's) and I was not sober, but I don't recall there being that many De La Rocha 10 minute interludes in the concert I went to. I don't recall any in fact... but again, it's not like I could tell you the set list or anything either.

It was a great show, though.

I understand the concept of good music being good music, but i think it's a little naive to say you'll listen to and enjoy anything even if you don't agree with the lyrics.

If there was a really awesome musically arranged song that passionately talked about killing minorities or raping women, then I certainly wouldn't listen to it. If you would more power to you.

Of course there are some lyrics in some songs I don't agree with but I still listen to the bands.

The point here is that they - RATM and Ryan - are polar opposites.

I know that you're a huge Police fan. How do you think Sting would respond to your right-leaning politics? My guess is that he wouldn't just disagree with you but that he'd actually dislike you.

Better question would be Neil Peart, and I don't think he would dislike anyone. Especially a drummer.

I'm not as right-leaning as I was a few years ago, but I'll answer anyway. I wouldn't care. He's kind of a douche anyway, from what I understand...doesn't stop me from singing along to Reggatta de Blanc every time I hear it.

    E-yoooooooooo, E-yooooooooo, E-yaaay-yoooo......

I don't have to like someone (or have them like me) to appreciate their work. The Pianist is one of my all-time favorite movies. But Roman Polanski? DIRTBAG.

I started a thread in the Hangout about this kind of thing a while back.

One of the best responses I've seen in a while.

Politics isn't as important as a lot of folks think it is.

Naaahhh. It's not very important. It just impacts every aspect of your life from the point of conception to the moment that you die.

Still not that important. Definitely not important to my feelings about someone.

I listen to Wagner from time to time. If I cared about his politics, I could never listen to his music.

But, the fact remains that most music that has conservative politics sucks. I'm not sure why that happens, but it's true in most cases that I know of.

It's probably because most artists are sensitive and sensitivity often leads to empathy, a thing that is sneered at by most modern conservatives.

Most artists are liberals until they get rich. Then they are liberal about most stuff except keeping their cash and taking as much cash from their fans as possible.

Could also be a drug connection.

OK champ. Just be sure and remember that it isn't a sports team, and you shouldn't have a blind affiliation to one side over the other.

    Green Day for instance.

For someone that clearly thinks highly of his/her own intellect, yours is particularly mundane. I'm tired of you interrupting only to insert a banal opinion awash in false superiority. You'll make a nice round 10 of my ignore list.

I'm telling you guys, get an ignore list and never peek. It increases the enjoyment of this BBS immeasurably.
