Could Kevin Martin be a potential Melo type locker room cancer??

We're a crappy-ass lotto team. And Martin will be long gone before we ever have a chance to be good. I'm not sure it matters if he is a cancer. Cancer might even be better for us in the long-term if it can help us lose games this season.

But, he won't be. Even if McHale won't use him right, he'll be a professional and try his best up to the day he's traded.

I understand the OP's concern and I'll give him my 2 cents.

Martin is in a contract year, he knows he's 99% likely to get traded by deadline. He stated recently he's onboard and will play the best he can for Mchale or whoever he ends up for. If he starts complaining it will only mean he'll get paid less next contract. He has to do well to make payday. It's that simple. Regardless of his zero defense on court other teams like him and if he can prove he's healthy, contenders may want to bring him in.

Expect Kmart to be back to normal this season until we trade him. If he's not Delfino and Lamb will put him in his place.

Martin is too skinny to be a cancer.

The analysis in the original post is scintillating. Unfortunately many of those here are not intelligent enough to understand it so I have performed a DETAILED STATISTICAL ANALYSIS and reduced the author's conclusions to graph form.

Kevin Martin is a great player and a decent guy. I've never understood why everyone here loves to hate him. I for one would gladly keep him on the Rockets until given a great trade opportunity. Rebuilding doesn't necessarily mean dump everyone over 25 and murder whoever you can't trade, like Clutchfans thinks.

The one time he rightfully took some heat was when he was disappointed about almost being traded AWAY from the Rockets. The rest is just perpetuated myth that he's mentally weak, or whatever else people love to over emphasize.

This. KMart is a gentleman and a scholar. He never really did anything unprofessional. He probably liked it a lot in Houston, which was why he was very butthurt that we traded him to New Orleans.

Gasol is mentally weak, Martin is physically weak when everything tightens up in the 4th he tries but most of the time he can't help it.

Tad Brown's daughter attends my church (along with Tad), and said she meets every new player on the team and Kevin Martin was rude. Made no attempt to talk to her and keeps to himself in the locker room... I know for a fact K-Mart doesn't focus on team chemistry..

I'm sure the players have better things to be doing instead of meeting Tads daughter.

Meets all the players, and she made a point to say that he was the only one that didn't give her the time of day... No one in the front office has any attachment to this guy what so ever...

Maybe he was a human being and just was having a bad day?

Every freaking year, the fan base picks a player and turns on them. Every year.

Rafer -> McGrady -> Brooks/Battier -> Lowry and now Martin.

The Rockets tried to trade the guy and it blew up in thier face, did you expect him to become more enthusiastic about his job? And I am sorry, your friend of a friend story isn't going sway me.

This is a self fullfilling propechy syndrome. People want to believe something, so they "find" some basis to support thier claim.
