I wonder if giddyup knew he 'cared' so much about this topic before it became a political talking point.

Yeah, but no. Value human life? What about utilitarianism? If so many people starve ANYWAYS, it's kinda cruel not to feed them the flesh of babies, no? At least someone will survive; and people can keep on eating s**ttons of burgers, and generally not giving a s**t about the poor and starvation too! Goldman can place bets on commmodoties unabated and continue to reap multi-billion profits. I am ideologically committed to this system, because in my mind, my platitude is better than yours. What a fine discussion we are having, with no facts in the way!

Rhetorical questions usually involve you knowing the answers; you obviously did not know that under the basis of different conditions for different people, the 14th Amendment could be cited to strike these laws down.

    Oh, hell yes.

    you know how it issssss.

What is surprising is ignoring page after page of facts while countering with grade school arguments and "comebacks".

You would think that some of those facts might hit home, yet somehow he still completely misses the point that voter ID laws will not solve the non-existent problem of voter fraud.

Big Government Conservatives. Whatcha' gonna' do?

What facts have I ignored? (Off to lunch-- don't know if I'll be able to keep my food down whilst waiting for the answer!)

Illegal immigrants and voter fraud are not connected.

Voter ID's would not have been a factor in preventing the majority of known voter fraud cases; which overwhelmingly concern absentee ballots.

Voter ID laws would disenfranchise approximately 10% of legitimate voters while failing to solve a problem that exists with less than 1% of votes.

Complete disregard for the Constitution when it fails to support your idea of how things should work.

Confronting facts with rhetoric simply to support your position without providing facts in return; instead calling others lazy, dishonest or elitist.

The constant concern of illegal immigrants and voting which is of no merit, according to the facts. Your illogical fear of illegal immigrants in general is fairly disturbing and points to a larger personality issue, but I'll leave that for you to figure out.

Hope you keep your food down.

Then this lady is a not too bright. I have lost my birth certificate twice and each time got a replacement from California within 3-4 weeks. Maybe someone should check to see if she did the process correctly.

That's a fair criticism, but I'm not sure the relevance unless the goal of voter ID is to disenfranchise stupid people.

Or those who are simply not well equipped to deal with bureaucracy/paperwork. The world is filled with intelligent people who are terrible at business.

    1. Yes, they are primarily theoretically connected. Like I said, prevention first. Which came first: identity theft (common not voter) or identity protection?

    2. More concerned about the future than the present or the past. Things change.

    3. Disenfranchise, really? That's something that people will do to themselves if and when there is any kind of widespread voter ID in place and they don't comply with the law.

    4. As far as I can tell the Constitution disenfranchises American citizens under 18 and everyone seems to think it is a good idea. A voter ID card is something that someone can do something about. You are a victim of your age.

    5. Elitist, YES. Lazy and dishonest charges were leveled at people who were misrepresenting my position for their convenience.

    6. Thank you, Dr. Crane! Should I make out the check to Frasure or Niles?

    7. Thai food was great. They had Coconut Soup which they usually don't offer until the cool weather arrives. Food is still with me, thank you!

I'm surprised giddyup didn't try to squirt the Tom Yum Gai up his rear in order to troll the folks at the Thai place and then innocently ask why they were staring at him.

Babies did it to themselves by living in my baby-eating regime. They didn't comply with the law of non-baby eating.

I cannot believe how many times this point has been countered and beaten down. If you want to ignore facts in your ideals, than so be it, but now you're just straight up misrepresenting what happens.

    AGAIN.

Giddy, do you envision a future of massive voter ID rollouts, where teams of vote ninja aliens pretend to be other registered voters, in order to vote President Kang in?

For those posters trying to remain rational and responsive: is this your first giddyup thread?

Sometimes it's sport. I never know if giddyup is actually just trying to weasel his way out of acknowledging rational arguments, or if he's genuinely incapable of understanding a rational argument.

Indeed. I am growing fond of seeing him stretch to explain his position in spite of the rational information provided. Now it is about the FUTURE! Must protect against the FUTURE voter fraud that is SURE to be committed by illegal immigrants! Illegals are taking over our country, rigging our elections, stealing our women and raping our cats and dogs. Now what are *you* going to do about it, America??

    Oh, grasshopper...

See below my First Post and #2 in the whole dang thread:

Do you see what I did there? Rather than challenge the notion that voter fraud is currently epidemic, I accepted the premise and immediately looked to the future as all great minds do...

At every opportunity thereafter, I proffered that if voter fraud is not a problem now it well could be in the future and made the case for prevention.

Thank you. I look forward to my next show...

Let's look at what this law would do...

It would keep registered voters from being able to vote.

It wouldn't have an effect on voter fraud because we've seen that voter fraud is close to non-existent.

We also know that Republicans have admitted wanting these laws not to stop voter fraud but because it would make it harder for certain groups of people to vote.

Given what we know about the law, why would people want it?

Whether it's easy enough to get an ID isn't the issue and is immaterial. That doesn't change the things that we already know about the bill and the current situation with voter fraud.
