I'm glad he got his bike back but what if the thief had a gun? Pretty stupid to chase him down like that.
I never even bothered to check, but mine was stolen the FIRST day I brought it to Austin...Someone just walked up to my back porch and cut the lock.
If I bought a 10-year old Honda Accord with 180,000 miles on it for 2,500 bucks and someone made off with it, I'd be pretty pissed and drive two and a half hours to track it down. Especially if I put, uh, "gator hooks" or whatever on it. "Sir, you're going too fast."
If he was a true hippie he would have biked/walked that 160 miles to get his bike back. Riding a car to do it? That's so red state.
YOU ARE UNDER CITIZENS ARREST! It really does sound as lame to say it out loud as it does in my head...lol
Irrelevant. No such thing as minorities buying $2500 bikes. (Now waits for the inevitable picture of the Cambodian on a $3000 bike to prove me wrong ...)

How come the bike thief didn't jump in his car and drive off? Was it his girlfriend, who bailed, that drove him?
I hope this guy was a regular thief that did this all the time. Otherwise if he got caught buying a stolen bike and selling it the first time and now has a felony well that kinda sucks....
You're right. I misremembered. The text in the video said the thief lived near the place the bike got stolen... on Hawthorne.
Man, I got my cruiser stolen off my porch and it wasn't necessarily an expense bike, but it had a lot of personal customization. Custom bottom bracket so I could use Shimano Deore cranks - custom paint - every part was custom fit in fact. Not the best stuff, but everything was quality. I'd recognize it in a second if I ever saw it, but I never did unfortunately.
He should have slashed the tires....like this guy <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/n2E3URktJbs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
