    Or the other way around...

Anyhow, the interview is a few days old, but interesting:

A few points by JVG (some of them were made in his other interviews):

    1. Think DH will help the Lakers, but concern about his back (especially because he's reliant on athleticism), whether he'll fit in and be happy within the Princeton offense that the Lakers hired Eddie Jordan to run and whether he'll be happy sharing the ball.

    2. From ORL's point: Understands Orlando's reluctance to take Bynum, but JVG would have taken Bynum as the center piece despite his flaws. Think ORL is trying to get bad and that they'll be bad this year.

    3. JVG likes the deal for Philly... not sure what Denver is thinking. Hosts suggests it's a matter of contract $ and length.

    4. JVG would want an NFL style cap: Hard cap, but no max limit on individual salary, which would make stacked teams impossible since a superstar will get paid something like half of a team's salary cap.

    5. Thinks running the Princeton Offense will be "interesting"-- think are questions about whether there is enough shooting and good enough fit. Also wonder whether players will be willing to share shots.

    6. As far as Rockets go (starting at around the 11:00 mark) Like's Morey's attitude for not being scared off by threats from Dwight's camp. They couldn't have overpaid for Howard, JVG would have traded "everybody" for Dwight Howard.

Think the Rockets are intrigued by the summer league performance, but these guys are gonna be their regular season team. Feels bad for Kevin McHale because it's tough sledding playing with so many young players at the same time. Houston is probably hoping for a season similar to one of Mike Fratello's years in Cleveland, when they made the playoffs with 4 rookies. (Note: This is the team JVG was talking about: http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/1998.html)
    .

I don't agree with him about giving up "everything" for Howard-- you still need enough cap room and assets to build around him. Otherwise, you end up in the same situation that Orlando is in with Howard, but no assets, too many bad contracts and no ability to improve.

Also, like BimaThug (and unlike JVG and Clutch and others), I think the Rockets can be a decent .500 team.

man hold up, 97 9 the box?
He is right. for orlando to not come away with bynum is a low blow for basketballs fans everywhere. **

The hard cap and the franchise tags all sound nice, but it's the divas and their fake glasses suppliers that run this league. =(

**ignore comment if orlando magically ends up with the no.1 pick

Lol. JVG is the one who prefers veterans over young players and never wants to rebuild. That's why he would trade everything for Dwight and like Bynum for Orlando. I don't think McHale ever said he feels bad about coaching young guys and is not okay with rebuilding. JVG needs to stop worrying about other people's business. That's a reason he couldn't get a coaching job himself for so long, he's not good enough for championship teams and he's not into rebuilding. Ha. Also, he needs to stop bashing Orlando because they fired his brother. Everyone knows he has agenda.

    Nice one, Thanks.
Superstar is hard to find, once you get one, you can then work every other things out.
BTW, a 0.5 team will still be a lottery team.

Further proof JVG loves building around centers -- saying both ORL should have taken Bynum and he'd give "everybody" for Howard.

Yes, that would make him a fascinating interviewee/color commentator!

I can just imagine it now,

"Jeff your thoughts on the Lakers offseason?"

"NO COMMENT MIND UR OWN BEESWAX TODAY I ATE A TURKEY SANDWICH AND DID LAUNDRY!!!! "

I've always been a big fan of this idea. I think it would help a Morey team tremendously.

JVG is conflicting himself, he concerned about Dwight's back but yet willing to give up everything for Howard, isn't it funny.

Of course, on that team, 3 of the 4 rookies didn't play the same position.

As for everyone saying we're going to be .500 that means we will be in the middle of the WC, this teams roster on paper is not good enough to be in the middle of the western conference.

Love JVG as a commentator. He's a very wise man and a very stubborn coach.

I agree with what he says. Anytime a team has the ability to go after one of the best players in the league, you have to do it. Simply for the high risk reward. Keep in mind that every time a team drafts or trades for a player there is always a risk involved whether it be a low or high risk, but more often than not it is a low risk player and that's what the rockets like: not too skilled and not too overpaid. The rockets will not accept that sometimes you have to overpay to get a quality player and build.
