Rockets Waive Josh Harrellson HOUSTON – Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has waived center/forward Josh Harrellson. He was acquired by Houston from the New York Knicks as part of the Marcus Camby sign-and-trade on July 11. Harrellson (6-10, 275, Kentucky), who saw action in two games with the Rockets at 2012 NBA Summer League, averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 37 games (four starts) with New York in 2011-12. Originally selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the second round (45th overall) of the 2011 NBA Draft, he had his draft rights acquired by New York for cash considerations in a draft-night deal (June 23, 2011).
Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen The Rockets have waived c/f Josh Harrelson, a source said. Needed to make a cut to add Delfino. He'll put the roster at 20 players. Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Rockets had reached agreement w/ Delfino ($3 million for 1 season w/ option on 2nd year) but could not sign him until opened a roster spot.
Harrellson's contract would have become guaranteed today. I guess he wasn't a lock to make the team, so they waived him instead of Simpson, Fortson or Sean Williams (who I presume agreed to push back the date of his contract becoming guaranteed).
My appreciation? Being part of this moment.....

2 women come up to us on Strip yelling "Go Rockets!" How long have you been fans? Too bad. Would have much preferred we start losing the surplus 3s and 4s than one of the few guys that could play a couple minutes at center.
It must really suck to be waived on the last day before your contract becomes guaranteed. Best of luck to Big Jorts.
Toney Douglas and him are players whose skill is not fit in their position. Toney Douglas: SG skill but PG body, weak at playmaking. Josh Harrellson: Good outside shooter at Center position.
I'm sure they could have let someone else go instead.. I was kinda hoping to see how we would roll with 3 white centers. Has that ever happened in the modern era?
