So if the bike thief never admitted that he bought a stolen bike to resell it he wouldn't have been arrested? Like if he claimed ignorance to as how he acquired the bike, he would have been off the hook?
Bahahahahahahaha. That's awesome! I had my bike stolen about 2 years ago! Didn't have a car at the time, either! I didn't even bother checking craigslist!
So the guy that originally stole the bike is still unknown? Or was he lying about the craigslist thing...?
Crazy stuff going down at U-Village. I used to shop there quite a bit before the Barnes and Noble there shut down. Good for them. POS thieves really piss me off, maybe even more than asshat bicyclists.
I'm going to throw some gasoline on this fire and begin to wonder if we can play the race card on this scenario: What would have happened had the thief been white and the bike owner black? What would have happened had the thief been black and the bike owner black? Nothing. Nothing.
Nope. Buying stolen goods is a crime, whether you know they're stolen or not. Which is why, when you buy something second-hand, you need to see a receipt.
$2,500 is a pretty big chunk of change especially when you know who took it from you and I'm sure he had plenty of adrenaline going as well. Not like he jumped the guy or anything. Props to the guy for getting his bike back. Dumbest thing on the part of the thief was to say he knew it was stolen and that people buy stolen goods all the time. I would never let that guy walk away after saying that.
