...and interesting info slipped in there: that Whedon will be heading up the live-action TV series. Fantastic news on that front. From what I've seen, the TV show will cycle through lesser names. Rare cameos only for the big screen types.

A live-action TV series is actually really genius.

At worst (read: worst) it can be a star vehicle for Avengers 3. If the media or general audience loves a specific character, such as Black Panther or whoever, then Whedon can insert that character into the third movie.

Instead of using a movie to inform the masses of origin / backstory for a specific character, the TV series will have already done it.

PS: Black Panther needs to be in Avengers 2 or 3. :D

[IMG] Damn I envy the knowledge, wherewithal and history some of you guys have within the Marvel Universe. I used to be OBSESSED with Marvel as a child but the window of attention span for it was too difficult to maintain with new wonders such as power rangers, dragonball z and pokemon. Despite falling out of habit with keeping up with the MU storylines, I've always maintained interests and curiosity and now I'm too deep out of it to fully submerse myself back into the world of.. (I just don't have the time, and if I ever find the time - NOTHING productive will happen for a long while lol)

It's very similar to wrestling.. I can't stand to watch it, but because my love for it was so passionate while growing up, I'll find myself on WWE.com at least once a year to see who's champ, what's cool going on, what's dumb, new etc.

    I salute you Marvel heads

I've been out of the loop for awhile actually. I imagine I wont be able to jump back in until I'm married someday and I have nothing better to do.

Dude I LITERALLY stopped myself from doing that this weekend.
I had started an episode from the first season when Goku was speeding back from King Kai's to take care of Vegeta, and caught myself pulling up the next two and just had to stop dead in my tracks and nip it in the bud lol

This is strange. This article says the rights are just for Surfer and Galactus. Another article I read said it was for the fantastic four stable completely.

Thanks; I really don't read many comics lately. I do when I can / I'm in the mood. Generally, I'm just very good at wikipedia. :)

Looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy despite the fact that I know nothing of the characters really.

Agree 100%. They only drawback is I don't see them getting anyone like Renner into the series nor do I see them making a Hawkeye or Widow film. And both of them are openly disappointed that they aren't getting more of a focused treatment.

Hulk also continues to be in flux - new TV series delayed and there's a push to wedge in a feature film after Ruffalo stole the show in Avengers.

I'm assuming the show will be mainly Shield-centric. Gives you a permanent main cast as a backbone so that the various heroes/villains can be rotated through. Also cuts FX budget down a bit.
    I'd guess we'd see:
    Falcon
    Panther
    Jessica Jones
    Iron Fist/Luke Cage
Mrs Marvel (could play into the galactic direction of the films)
    Mockingbird
    Vision
    Scarlett Witch
    Quicksilver
    She-Hulk
    Wonder Man
    Ronin
    Dr Strange?
    Hercules?
    ---------
    AIM
    Hydra (+ Viper)

I think it makes sense: there's no way FOX would consider the entire FF rights an equal swap for Daredevil. But Marvel was hoping they might have a shot at Surfer/Galactus since FF2 bombed. But my guess is that FOX rightly knows there is a decent dollar value here and is countering with a % cut from profits (Paramount got a slice of Avengers).

With an Infinity Gauntlet arc cutting across Guardians and Avengers 2, those two characters would make a lot of sense. And MAN would those movies be epic.

Anyway, what I read today is that the rumor isn't true. Marvel apparently wants Daredevil back and Fox isn't willing to trade off any of their FF4 stable. They are apparently lukewarm on the DD reboot and already have the FF4 reboot on track.

Nobody cares about Black Widow and Hawkeye.

Ruffalo didn't steal the show. Hulk did. Bruce Banner went from Norton to "some guy" and didn't miss a beat. Why? Because they don't HULK SMASH!

    'Daredevil' Heading Back To Marvel

The writing was on the wall. With David Slade leaving the project earlier this summer, and Joe Carnahan revealing yesterday that his pitch for a "'Serpico' styled" take on "Daredevil" "went up in smoke," it wasn't exactly clear how Fox was going to hang on to the rights to the character with an October 10th deadline looming. And it looks like they won't.

Variety reports that given the latest developments, the rights will head back to Marvel sometime this fall, where we suppose they will be free to reboot it as they see fit. Previously, there was some talk of Fox and Marvel/Disney coming together on a co-financing deal, or the possibility of Fox giving Marvel the rights to some characters (Silver Surfer and Galactus were tossed around) in exchange for extension. But clearly, that won't be happening (the latter scenario made little sense considering Fox announced they're rebooting "Fantastic Four" with Josh Trank, of which those characters are pretty essential). So, where to next?

That remains to be seen. Marvel pretty much has their slate through 2015 lined up with "Iron Man 3," "Thor: The Dark World," "Captain America: The Winter Solider," "Guardians Of The Galaxy," and "The Avengers 2" the priority projects they are working on, with "Ant-Man" lurking in the background. A "'Serpico' styled" take on Daredevil certainly wouldn't fit in their established movie universe, so we would imagine development on the movie would go right back to square one and start all over. In short, you're probably not going to be seeing Matt Murdock on the big screen anytime soon.

Are you glad that Daredevil is back at Marvel? What do you want them to do with the superhero? Weigh in below.

Now that they have DD back, Marvel needs to make a street-level 'Marvel Knights' flick with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and maybe Black Panther.

Wrong. Now that they have Daredevil back they need to put the scripts in a dark, deep basement and lock the door. Forever.

Daredevil wasn't my favorite comic to read back in the 70s, but I think he has potential as a movie or television series character. But since he's not a blockbuster movie type, I wonder if Marvel will set him on the shelf a few years while they focus everything on the Avengers heroes.

Replace Black Panther with Punisher and I'm in (honestly, I just think T'Challa is above that kind of thing).
