Thanks for elaborating, but not to mention jimmer or thomas do not have veteran leadership to guide them through their rookie season.
Perhaps this is a move to make things more competitive for the rookies. Bring in a veteran who is proven, making Lamb or whoever wants to play the back up 3 work harder. Because now with someone ahead of them in the rotation, their spots are no longer guaranteed. The assumption here is that if Martin is still on the roster come opening day. With Delfino, Lamb won't automatically assume the back up position making him work harder to outplay the vets. Not only that, it'll be good to have someone who can play NBA level D in practice on Lamb because we know Martin will not. This can apply to White and Jones too as far as backing up Parsons. This is the only way I can rationalize this move without assuming there is something else coming.
DING DING DING!!! You are the 1,000,000th poster to post something along these lines since the offseason started! You win a Dwight Howard Loyalty tee and a giant bag of Hope, followed by an even bigger bag of sorrow.
Because those guys you mentioned cost a fortune and occupy the cap space and PT/touches while Delfino only cost very little, could easily be moved and would be okay with a limited role but still provide the same veteran presence...
Not that I'm saying something revolutionary here, but just adding to the sentiment that this whole offseason has been one giant fail in my book.
hey man keep your chin up… the morey plan has failed us now for 4 straight off seasons BUTTTTTTTT, next year is THE year for us to land that superstar.. i mean Denvers front office can get rid of Melo, acquire Javale Mcgee and then trade for Iggy and still has young upside pieces to work with… But morey can move our awesome "assets" for anyone.. unless ur excited about more draft picks.. he is a wizard….
go look at denvers roster… they just picked up Iggy.. now they have Iggy, Wilson Chandler, Danillo Galinari and corey brewer all stacked at the SF position.. u wanna talk about assets.. they actually have some that other gm's would snatch up quick.. the best we have to offer is unproven rookies or Kmart and P pat.. and like i said before.. Morey and Les aren't moving Kmart or Ppat because they wanna keep a glimmer of hope to making the 8th seed in the west.. the Nuggets front office did a bang up job in rebuilding quickly after a superstar is gone from their roster.. But wait a second….. i thought Morey said it would take 3 years for a team to recover from the loss of a superstar?? Hmm weird.. keep giving the "The Great and Powerful Wizard" more free passes.. he can't turn crappy assets into Superstars.. I'd be happier if he just traded K mart for a 2014 lottery pick and PPat for a later first rounder from a contender.. play the rooks, get 2 high lottery picks in 2013 and either save the 2014 first rounder or package it up in a trade for a star..
Not sure I've read a less informed post in a long time by someone trying to be serious. 1. Hell yes other GM's would be willing to take Iggy, Wilson Chandler, Galinari... but for the right price. Denver is not going to just give them away and Denver is not going to be able to just ship Chandler to a team like the Kings for Cousins or a superstar like Howard. 2. The fact that you imply that somehow other GM's would not snatch up players like Parsons, Motiejunas, Lamb, KMart, Lin or the Toronto, Dallas or even our own pick is laughable and removes all credibility from your post. But like the Denver assets, Houston is not going to just give them away and a team like Kings or Pistons are not going to just trade Cousins or Monroe for one of those guys. You confuse the fact that Daryl Morey has not traded our assets as a sign that no other GM wants them. Once again that is just laughable and removes credibility from your post. I'm guessing you were one of the ones claming Budinger had no value to other teams and yet Daryl Morey squeezed a mid 1st round pick in a very deep draft from the T-Pups for him. We all over valued Lowry but of course Dary Morey traded him for a garunteed lottery pick. Congadulations to Denver for doing a bang up job in rebuilding after they traded their superstar. If only Houston had a former number 2 pic superstar and a former number 7 pic center to help them along in their rebuilding efforts like Denver. Unfortunately Daryl has had to make tons of moves this off-season to start the rebuilding process. Most posters wanted the Rockets to tear it down and start over. They have now done that. How can you critisize the results before they even have an oppertunity to play together in an NBA game. Daryl Morey said it would take 3 years to rebuild after the loss of a superstar but the Rockets have just started the rebuilding process this summer. How about at least giving them 1 freaken game before you critisize the process.
You do realize Yao retired due to injury, and McGrady got injured. You do realize that Denver was able to trade Carmelo Anthony in his prime with Chauncey Billups? They didn't rebuild quickly, they traded a great player for good players.
They are also much better players. If you want your young player to learn and develop, don't you want them to learn from much better players? Just checked, fyi, Delfino has a NBA career average at 40% of FG Pct.
I thought the word mentor is for Hakeem, Deke, Cassell or someone with elite level of skill even they were at the age of 35+. Signing Delfino is to add some wins. He's not classy enough to mentor anyone.
Haha whatever crash.. U keep drinking that kool aide.. We want production not excuses and shoulda coulda woulda's from the front office.. Yea and I'm sure we signed delfino to mentor our young guys.. Hahahaha.
Okay, someone has addressed you before but I have to address again. But you do realize that Denver rebuilt by trading Melo? If Morey had Yao in his prime to trade, you could bet he would have more/better assets now and rebuild more quickly too.
Actually, Sacramento's youth movement has sucked because they keep drafting bad players, see: Tyreke Evans, Jimmer Fredette, Thomas Robinson.
they sucked because thet don't have veteran leadership in the locker room to show them the way, immaturity is killing them, the young players are too complacent since they feel that their positions and playing tume are guaranteed, also life on the road is another issue, adding a veteran or two could fix it (glue guys with great character like chuck hayes could fix their bad habits on and off the court( if the rockets would go with the youth movement without veteran leadership, expect chaos and drama on and off the court
