So, the Texas tax-free shopping weekend is coming up on the 17th, 18th, & 19th. I have been looking forward to this to make some additions to my wardrobe. I really am not looking forward to the crowds though. Does anyone know if online purchases are tax-free on these days as well? Or not? I have searched around and been unable to find any information on that. Thanks. Anyone else have any shopping plans next weekend?
I have a feeling I will be dragged to the Cypress outlets since we are meetng my father in-law up in the area to have a birthday lunch, but hopefully good sense will prevail.
I'm going to go scout out what I need/want, take pics and notes and give them to my wife. She's going to do the dirty work Friday morning.
On Amazon it is for select items. http://blog.chron.com/techblog/2012...-com-participating-in-texas-tax-free-weekend/
Oh, don't marginalize it. Combined with sales to attract customers, it's a great time to buy clothes at a discount.
Personally, I can't WAIT for this weekend. Because anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE shopping for clothes. Especially when it's really crowded.
2 Tips from a 20+ year retail manager: AVOID THE MALL. Go to the street stores. It might mean more drive time, but the crowds are very much reduced. GO EARLY (9am-12noon). People don't like to wake up early on weekends...even if it means saving a buck or two. Plus you get the best selection, the stores aren't trashed up, and service is generally better cause they aren't so crowded.
My store in Rice Village, THE CLASS ROOM (www.theclassroomshop.com) is having a big sale now and through to tax-free weekend. - 40% off backpacks (Epperson Mountaineering) - 30-40% off select denim and pants (Rogue Territory, Naked & Famous) - 20% off accessories including belts, sunglasses, and wallets (Tanner Goods, Shwood Sunglasses) - 15% off all tees and tanks (Tantum, Freshjive)
I remember my high school days, shopping at the Suitmart off 59 and Murphy. Waiting 45 minutes in line to pay with tons of clothes hanging over my forearm, making my arm sore and sweaty. I'll probably go early Friday and stop by Ross or Marshalls and see what they have. I believe you're new to Texas, right? Tax Free weekend is mid August every year, and it's mainly on clothes and school accessories. Stores have great sales on top of the no tax, so you save a bit of money, but the madness is legit.
