I'm pretty sure at least one of Brockman, Smith, and Williams makes the team. Patterson and Motiejunas won't be able to man the 5 for long stretches if Asik gets into foul trouble or hurt.

It's exactly the work of a genius GM collecting assets - all guys on favorable rookie contracts, some with upside, some with less and one veteran with a large expiring deal, plus two young RFA's with upside acquired in the offseason from cap-strapped teams.
i see mchale using two big forwards when asik is out of the game. it's not a bad way to make sure the young guys get minutes. donuts is 7 feet tall and hes going to have to learn to play tough if he wants a career in the nba. throw them out there to the wolves. it will crush a few of them... and a few will become real nba players. and those are the ones we build around.
I know this is all built for positioning ande most of these guys are meant to be around in the future, but I think it's going to be interesting to see how they develop this year. No expectations on how good they will be or how many wins they will get, just a serious interest. As for the direction of the team, we have no choice, we are all along for the ride... Just hope it's becomes more of a Texas Cyclone type ride soon instead of the Hollywood tour we are on right now.
