Not to pollute this thread, but some poster's proposal of Martin + Morris + Patterson for Al Jefferson would be an excellent move IMO. This move would free up big man minutes for the rookies and SG minutes for Lamb to develop. Jefferson definitely would make us a more balanced team. If it didn't work out, he's an expiring contract anyway and we could let him walk next year and sign someone else. Honestly, I don't see a big man FA next offseason better than Jefferson other than Howard and Bynum who we couldn't get obviously. C: Asik/Jones PF: Jefferson/DMo SF: Parsons/White SG: Lamb/Delfino PG: Lin/Douglas This team l
playoff team. That roster looks horrible bro. Playoffs in the easy maybe but even GSW will be in before use this season. You wont have 4 rookies in the rotation and make it in the west. Every team round us got stronger while we regressed for the future
I think a lot of you guys will love Delfino after watching Parsons, Royce, and DMo clank all the orange paint off the rim a few games.
I don't see why not. Nugguts and Jazz made the playoffs last year with a bunch of young players and rookies too. Jefferson adds the low post scoring we currently lack and Asik adds the rim protection we lacked last year. That proposed team is much more talented than our last year's team who barely missed the playoffs.
Nuggs just picked up Iguodala champ. And the Jazz just picked up Mo Williams and will have natural improvement from the likes of Favors and Burks... to a lesser extent Kanter. Both teams are definitely a class above us.
Throwing away an opportunity for what? The league is already aware of what kind of player Kevin Martin is and playing him won't increase his trade value all that much. Teams already know we don't want him and he doesn't fit in our long term plans so there won't be some huge bidding war.
Also, with Delfino and Jefferson, we have veterans at every position to show the rookies the know how. The young players actually get more PT than currectly construted. Delfino could back up the 2-3 position and would be willing to do so and in case any young players fade under pressure, he could step right in. Also if DMo, Jones and/or White prove to be the real deal, we can always let Jefferson walk next summer. This could be a move for both the present and future. We still have cap room next year, not to mention the Toronto lottory pick.
Kevin Martin Jeremy Lin Omer Asik Shaun Livingston Patrick Patterson Toney Douglas Jeremy Lamb Marcus Morris Royce White Gary Forbes Terrence Jones Donatas Motiejunas JaJuan Johnson Jon Brockman Sean Williams Chandler Parsons Courtney Fortson Diamon Simpson Greg Smith Josh Harrellson Carlos Delfino
If we stole Jefferson from the Jazz, we're better than them. Their youngsters would improve but their low post scoring would suffer.
Jason Friedman just up hit me up and stated that its "highly doubtful" rockets move martin because of Delfino signing.....this is weird
The trade market for Martin most likely has not changed one bit after the Delfino signing. If Morey hasn't found a good deal for Martin before the Delfino signing, I doubt he'll find one within the near future. Morey has said over and over again that he has no issues with having competition for minutes at any position, why would it be different for SGs?
If the roster stands at the beginning of the season as it does now, CF's favorite Jeremy Lamb might get almost no minutes. The rotation could look like this and I wouldn't be surprised at all: Lin/Douglas Martin/Delfino Parsons/Delfino Patterson/Harrellson Asik/Harrellson No rookies getting any PT at all... lol.
Harrellson didn't even get much playing time for the summer league team. I doubt he gets significant minutes for the actual team.
I think this a good, but not great move! You get a good tough veteran player to teach the youngsters, especially on the art of flopping!
