All this talk of tanking to get high picks is nonsense To be like OKC, so many things have to be in your favour. What if portland picked durant? Then they would have been stuck with oden! I feel that the rockets can make the playoffs this year..It all depends on the development of our rookies. In last years draft, jones and lamb were projected to be top 10 picks. Its a possibility that one of the rookies can become an all star and lin can also become an all star. If that happens, the rockets will make the playoffs and will suddenly become attractive for free agents. Add one marquee free agent, and the rockets become genuine title contenders
Al Jefferson. 18 points 8 boards is pretty nice. Considering that we have Asik who struggles offensively. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/al_jefferson/
We aren't in control or a part of the direction the Rockets are going. But if we somehow get Jefferson, I think that would make this team a playoff team, 6 7 or 8 seed. Jeremy Lin and Jefferson working the pick and roll, and I think the best of Martin (if he isn't part of a trade) would come out with Jeremy Lin hitting him on the wing on the P&R. I think the most valuable thing about Lin is how he makes all of his teammates better, so a starting 5 of Lin, Martin, Patterson, Jefferson is an improvement over last years roster in my eyes.
I am just waiting for court time; roll the ball out there and let's see what happens. I am not sure the Rocket's brain trust knows what they are doing. The elaborate schemes discussed on this site have probably never occurred to the them. I am counting on the old adage, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once and awhile."
LOL in what weak-ass conference is that line-up a playoff team? Especially when 1/2 the roster has less than 1 year of experience? And does the team want to be in a spot where they are yet again "potentially" a playoff team? You're basically proposing another year on the treadmill. That line-up (this year at least) doesn't make it to playoffs and on the off chance it does, doesn't make it past the first round.
Can't expect to start a rookie right away. I'm guessing Martin will be moved and Delfino will be more of a veteran presence to alternate the 2-guard spot with Lamb.
Uh, stop with comments like these. If the Rockets chose to go in that direction I would be 100% behind it. The Rockets front office are professionals. They know what they're doing. There not just going to lose a few players, and then go into full tank mode because people on Clutchfans say so. People act like it's just a sure thing the Rockets are going into tank/rebuild mode, when in reality we have no idea.
Actually doesn't really matter for a one year deal. Could be one of those Carl Landry type of deals for teams like the Rockets flirting with the league min. Im gonna go on a limb and one year 5 mil, second year team option for 1.5mil as my guess.
Delfino was not considered a long range shooter when he first came into the NBA, he was groomed by the Bucks (Sampson?) to be that guy that came off the bench for instant offense. Delfino actually has a very well rounded offensive game. He is not a stand behind the arc and wait for the ball kind of player. He is very physical, whether it is rebounding, driving to the hoop or D-ing up. Watch some of his games with Argentina or when he played for Skipper Bologna. I am far from a Delfino expert but the guy is hard to miss when you are looking for vids of Scola.
