Loved watching Ryan humiliate Obama towards the end of that. It starts to show the difference between Ryan and Obama -- Ryan is a DOER and proposes solutions. Obama just plays politics. His game is up. People aren't just giving him the benefit of the doubt anymore because he's articulate with the aid of a teleprompter.
the vast majority of the country gains simply by it NOT being ryan's budget. there is the added bonus that the government isn't turned into a frat house.
ah, the immortal Tim Geithner path: "We don't have a definitive solution... We just don't like yours" <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/s29X6Wm0J1Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I look forward to Paul Ryan holding a more significant elected office. He will help usher in the real class warfare that we so desperately need.
Paul Ryan needs to stand up and advance a policy position on what caused the mounting debt in the first place; Wall Street failure. Until then, he is a policy wonk in name only.
they're flailing: <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/r5NJF5Fcvmg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Flitting from attack to attack By Jennifer Rubin The Obama spin machine has blown a fuse. First, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was selected as Mitt Romney’s running mate, the David Axelrod brain trust told us, because Mitt Romney capitulated to the right. But that didn’t really stick, and it wasn’t true (which counts for something). Then it was a disastrous pick because Ryan, and well, Medicare . . . don’t you see? Romney and Ryan flicked that away in a “60 Minutes” interview and, in fact, started attacking President Obama for using $700 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. New spin: “Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan wrapped up a whirlwind three-state introduction tour for ‘America’s Comeback Team,’ but with the candidates splitting off until Tampa later this month, Romney faces a new challenge: Competing for attention with his rock star running mate.” The only thing missing is the slightest bit of evidence anyone in the Romney camp feels this way. To the contrary, the only person this reporter spoke to in the Romney camp said this was a non-issue. This is, to put it mildly, the sort of non-story that Democratic operatives feed to the media, knowing it will receive no scrutiny. But “reporters” have copy to deliver, and it sort of sounds plausible, and besides it’s not flattering to the Romney team, so what the heck, hey?! The left-leaning media is understandably irritated that Ryan is doing so well. Therefore, the urge to invent conflicts and divine problems goes into hyper-drive. Get used to it. Just as the left is convinced the public will buy lies about the Romney agenda, it is certain it will eat up a ton of ”process” stories, true or not. It must be annoying to the left. You see, the GOP is supposed to be the ”stupid” party, if you list to liberal elites. They don’t believe in science or something. And here they have two wonky candidates demanding a serious debate on the issues. Plus, they are really good at math. To top it off, the Ryan pick is being greeted as a relief from the campaign of petty attacks — that would be the entire Obama campaign. You can understand the frenetic response. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...262f04c-e588-11e1-8f62-58260e3940a0_blog.html
psssh. Ryan can't even coherently articulate a consistent ideology (rejecting Randian ideas as soon as his church reminded him to). I doubt he has any idea of how most financial systems operate. Wait, I know he has no idea.
When you say flailing what you really mean is there are so many avenues of attack we don't know where to begin!
I swear, some of you guys don't seem to have a firm idea of how the budget process works. Obama has submitted his annual budget proposals to Congress in a timely manner every year. The president's budget proposal is (as its name suggests) merely a spending request, a guideline for Congress. Congress' job is to come up with a formal budget for the next fiscal year. Both budget committees in the House and Senate come up with their respective budgets, get them to agree, and pass it through both chambers. The lack of a budget is hardly even news. As recently as 2006, when Republicans controlled both the House and Senate, Congress couldn't get its act together and pass a budget for FY2007. Where was all the outrage back then? It's normally not even standard procedure for Congress to take up the President's budget proposal and vote on it. Frankly, I can't even recall the last time something like that happened in recent history. Since the Democrat-controlled Senate can't seem to come up with a budget, the Republican minority is bringing the President's spending proposal up to vote as-is, knowing full well it would be rejected in a landslide. It's all just idiotic political grandstanding.
Serious question on these meme's. Are people creating these themselves on the spot, or did you actually find this somewhere?
As our economy travels down the Highway to Hell, don't you think some leadership from the President would be appropriate in order to get our fiscal house in order. We are running deficits of over $1 trillion annually. Economic growth is stagnant and we have true unemployment of 15%. Obama checked out about a year ago, and hasn't lifted a finger to do anything about any of this. It's shameful. SHAMEFUL. The CEO/CFO tandem of Romney and Ryan will not ignore our fiscal crisis. They are responsible leaders who will do what is necessary -- regardless of whether it polls well. Romney has a history of bipartisan leadership and Ryan has a history of leveling with the American people and having the courage to bring up tough issues (Ryan also has a bipartisan track record, ask Ron Wyden). Obama is nothing more than a politician in campaign mode 100% of the time. We need a leader. We deserve a leader.
True statements. Unfortunately, I simply don't understand why you would think now is the right time to tackle our fiscal "crisis." I put "crisis" in quotations because short of a massive collapse in productive output leading to worldwide rejection of the USD as currency, it's technically impossible for a country with monetary sovereignty to have a fiscal crisis (but that's another topic). You're smart enough to understand the concept of sectoral balances. Government spending and taxation are two sides of the same coin. One credits the private sector with money while the other debits. Addressing the fiscal "crisis" requires the government to net debit the private sector. How exactly does removing money from the private sector help when the average household is debt-laden?
because it's only a crisis when a dem is in office. once you have a republican, it's totally cool to run up a deficit.
So true. The Republican's real goal is to gut spending on education, the poor, and the elderly so that they can give more handouts to the super wealthy and defense contractors. They don't care one bit about the deficit...
i think it is remarkable that our disingenuous wannabe one-percenters are excited about ryan as romney's wingman. i was looking forward to mitt getting tarred and feathered as it was. now team obama is gonna make him their court jester. ryan is the noose that romney just slipped around his own neck.
