I was noticing recently a man with his 2 sons, with all basically the same hair style. My brother and I both approximate our father's style. My brothers-in-law don't copy their father, but there seems to be a pretty good genetic reason for that. So, now I'm just curious how common it is.
If I remember correctly from freshmen year undergrad biology, and I'm only about 50% sure I do, that's not how genetics works. Your hair would come from whichever of your parents had the dominant gene. I don't think it's accurate to say any particular gene always comes from your mothers side or fathers side.
Gotcha. Yeah, my freshman year the prof mentioned boobies - which is a specific bird, and I laughed out loud. No one else did. So you probably know better than I.
Male pattern baldness is a sex-linked trait, which comes from the mother. But other aspects of hair, like color, thickness, and straightness/curliness would play be more routine genetic rules. And, your barber has another set of rules altogether.
We're both straight clipper shaved, him because he's old, myself because I like it and dig not having to worry about messing with it...just in the shower and out the door.
Nope. Dad had that 70's bald comb over. I just go clipper short or completely shaved. I would never comb over from one side to the other.
No, but when I was young, yes. Same stupid side part. Our hairstyles diverged the day my parents quit forcing me to comb my hair. I now buzz the damn thing to save time and money.
