indeed. D-Will has great size and used to play solid D. But if this is based on last year's peak... D-Will should change his name to Calderon Williams. he was horrible. And it's reflected in almost every advanced defensive metric there is. CP3 blows him out. In fact, Nash blows him out statistically.
he can stay on his defensive assignment, have a bigger body and stronger than most point guard.. He's above average defensively, IMO.. more than cp3..
i don't disagree. he had a bad team and didn't really care enough defensively. it just depends on what you judge on. "good" D-Will or "bad".
I respect you for your opinion, doesnt mean I agree though. CP3 arguably best defensive pg in the game
but have to say this -- one thing D-Will can always do (even last year) is play small-ish ball handling scoring guards one on one. Put him on Monta Ellis, DWill can crush him. he just lacked effort closing out off the ball, fighting through screens and such. which is important for a point guard playing vs. a team with another great passing point guard.
With D Wade and Batum, my wings can guard pretty much any given match-up on any night. D wade and Garnett bring championship experience to my team. A youthful Greg Monroe on the low block, Garnetts deadly mid ranger, and Batums efficeint 3 point shot gives wade enough space to effectively attack the basket
