When it premiered at Sundance this year, nearly the whole auditorium was in tears. There hadn't been an American debut like this since Quentin Tarantino showed up with Reservoir Dogs. Please make an effort to see this film. These are the movies that really need support. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/9nD2lkkHD5s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Will this be at the Sundance in Downtown? Going to see the documentary Marley this weekend and they usually show stuff like this.
Saw it last night. Hands down this is the best movie I've seen all year. Almost made me cry. My nieces unleashed the waterworks as did my cousin. Very sad, beautiful, gritty and tender. It's like a southern zydeco fairy tale. Reminded me of those 80s kids films like E.T. or Dark Crystal that didn't hyper sanitize itself for the sake of the children. I definitely recommend it to anyone who has a young daughter. Probably the greatest father daughter movie ever. It was made for like $1.5 mil so don't expect Transformer level productions or special effects. Lots of hand held camerawork so it might make older viewers uncomfortable. Here's the trailer again since it's been taken down. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZF7i2n5NXLo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's interesting. I've watched the trailer. I've heard a long interview with the filmmaker. I believe it's very good. But I cannot tell what the heck it's about. I know there is a young girl with big hair, and it looks like there is some poverty, ... and some crabs. This is not a complaint, mind you, and I plan to see it!
definitely not the best movie i've seen in 2012 i didn't fully understand the large boars; nor the scene at the brothel(?) i thought a lot of the aspects of the movie could have been more developed
